Quick overnight stay

Picked up our new 2017 North Point 381 last week and the trip from Chicago area to Texas planning has begun. This could lead to a overnight stay. While connected to 50 amp shore power can you stay connected to the truck, lower the landing gear (for stability), and operate the slides?

Yes, we always stay hitched, it usually takes a level site to do that though.

If we are doing a "Stay Connected" quick overnight I just make sure to disconnect the electrical connection from camper to truck when I hook up to shore power.

I would never try to auto level while connected to the truck and I wouldn't extend any slides unless I knew it was level.

I don't even unplug the 7-pin on my truck. There is a relay, and the plug is completely dead when the truck isn't started.

I disconnect the 7pin. I don't trust things like the relays.

Autolevel. I do not have one, but, if your truck tows fairly level and the site is level, then it might not hurt. The downside is if the autolevel system tries to lift the truck to get the trailer level. I'd extend the jacks manually just to stabilize it.

I have done both. Personally, if I am just pulling in for the night, I prefer not to drop the stabilizers. The HTT does bounce a bit when walking around, but I am ok with that. I will extend the slide out with the stabilizers up.

The 7 Pin, most of the time I disconnect it, but not always. On my TV, I have a hot aux power pin 100% of the time, so in theory, I could drain my TV battery. but, I am not running anything that has much draw, so I'm fine.

Most TV's I have seen, come from the factory with the aux pin is only hot when the TV is running, however, I have not see one where you cannot configure it to be hot 100% of the the time. On my TV, all I have to do is move the fuse over from A-> B to A->C. I think I heard on Ford's you have to install a different relay.

Happy Camping
