Am I correct in that the S637 is a ST tire but,
the G614 is a LT tire?

Bama

Look closely at the Sailun. There are 2 sizes. One is ST and one is LT. if I remember the 235/80 is the ST, and the 235/85 is LT.

I have a 2017 317RLOK that came with the Rainer tires. Got it last fall. After all the horror stories I read this past week about these tires I decided I wouldn't risk another trip with them. Replaced the Rainer tires with Goodyear Endurance tires today and I couldn't be happier. When I was at Discount tire getting them changed I had them bring me an unmounted Rainer tire to compare against the endurance. The Rainer sidewall is scarily thin and squishy. While the endurance is thick and stiff...
And best of all they are made in the USA.
After comparing the quality difference between these tires its easy to see why so many people are having problems with the cheapo Rainer tires.

What other options do I have with buying new rims?
Well if you have decided to change your rims then the world is your oyster. Get yourself a set of 17.5" 125 psi rims and mount either the Sailuns or (my preference) the Goodyear G114's. They have a 4800 pound rating and 75 mph. The nice thing with this setup is there are a whole variety of really cool rims to choose from.

I don't know how to post the link but I had a thread on this in March of 2015, titled 17.5" upgrade. Kinda walked through my process. Search for it and you can see what I did.

Peace of mind trailering.

Changed my Rainiers after approx. 1000 miles, had a nasty bulge in one. Luckily it didn't blow. Replaced them with Maxxiss M8008. So far so good.

Were your stock Rainiers 80's ?

Anyone know how much taller the 85 is verses the 80...1/2", 1"?

Yes, the stock Rainiers were 80. I got about 1/2" more height, which helped it to ride more level behind the TV.

Speaking of tire issues...This was posted today on the Jayco 5th wheel page on Facebook. First trip out and lost 2 tires as well as fenders within an hour of each other. Not good [emoji33]

I don't know why theses tires are allowed on North American roadways.

Yep...this is what I need...a tiny bit more leveling.

But now I have a problem.
While explaining this tire/rim purchase to the DW. Telling her about the 80psi rims we got. She says let's just get a 2018.

Now what?

I would listen to my wife [emoji3]
When I was spending a bunch of money constantly doing upgrades and maintenance on my 06 truck, she kept saying just get a better/newer truck. So, I listened to her [emoji3]

I was a "buy" button away from buying these Sailun's on rims..on sale for $240
Sailun S637 LRG 14 PR Radial Tire on 16" 8 Lug Series 07 Silver Aluminum Trailer Wheel

But I've settled on the Goodyear Endurance 235/85. On my stock 80psi rims.
3640lbs at 80psi
The local tire shop here has them on sale with no tax. I save $500 over the other option.

I went to my dealer looking at tires on the 2017's. There were a few with Ranier 80's. Most NorthPoints and Pinnacles had the Endurance 85's.
There were a few Pinnacles with G614's
A saw one Pinnacle with Sailun's.....when did that become an option??
And the Designers had the Goodyear G114 17.5"

Rainer tires

Glad you got rid of the Rainier tires. Hopefully you'll have no more tire worries.

After reading hundreds of negative reviews on Rainiers, I pulled them off on Friday and replaced with G614's. Without this forum, I would not have known they were a potential issue.

Put on my Goodyear Endurance. Went from 80's to 85's
I get another 1/2" to the trailer leveling, and I can use my RotoChocks again!!!!
The wheel spacing closed up to RotoChock range.

Most of all they are made in America and it can be felt by touching them. Night and day to the Rainier.

Hi Klassic, Very nice tire, indeed. I somehow missed this thread earlier. I upgraded to the Sailun S637 ST235/85R16 back on Feb 16. We logged 8900 miles on the Rainiers, no signs of bulging anywhere, except for a little uneven wearing on outside of the lead tires. Probably from extreme turning/maneuvering. I have the 2017 wheels with 3750 load stamp, so I kept them. Sailuns installed was $600.97, at a FL tire shop in Crawfordville. I asked for balancing, but their machine was not capable of heavy tires. Oh well.

I love 'em. Immediately smoother, less bounce, but I'd really love to have shocks installed due to full-timing. However, I'm concerned about the finger width gap on my driver side, compared to yours in your picture above. My other side is similar to yours...a good 2 fingers gap. However, the gap was still a finger width on the 85 Rainiers, on the driver side as you see in the picture below. So is your other side the same gap you show in the picture? Anyone else have a close gap, with 85s? Pictured is my driver side taken 8/11/16, 2.5 months since delivery and 5,347 miles. Now 14,565 miles and really no change. Bushings worn?
