But ended up in March buying a 2021 3500HD Duramax CC LB 4x4 DRW. Felt when my future plans are to go to the Rockies, I would feel more comfortable in a DRW coming down the mountains. I also elected to replace the 36 gallon fuel tank with a 60 gallon one (ouch). Haven't taken a trip with it yet as other things have come up preventing us on getting away from home.

Happy trucking and be safe -
That is one of the thing that excites me the most on this new Truck is the 50 gallon fuel tank.

I should not have to stop for fuel on our Destin trip in a few weeks

I did not, I missed one that sold before I said yes. Found another that had issues.

Just got back from our trip and the SRW did fine, now I have a little more time to decide.

Okay sound good, I'm trying myself to find a DRW so I can test drive and if all goes well and if the price is right I might buy it but we will see.

On the Buy order - Pin Weight 2855, UVW 14,040, CCC 2,710, GVWR 16,750

My Truck - Cargo Capacity 3620, Tow 24,000, GVWR 11,800, Front Axle 6,000, Rear Axle 7,000. GCWR 32,000.

I know I can tow it and stop it. I know I'll be under GCWR of 32K

I am close on Cargo Capacity and probably close on Rear Axle.

Who has this set up? Am I over thinking it? It would be a $14K education to trade the ruck back in on a Dully................

Hi, I’ve got a very very similar setup!

2020 Ram 3500 Crew Cab 8’ bed dually and a 2020 NorthPoint 377RLBH. The combo handles like a dream. ZERO issues. Love the setup!

Bill2e... you will likely be a few 100 lbs over weight on your rear Axl. I have the exact same rv with a 3500 srw gmc denali. My truck is a bit lighter then yours but also has about the same payload. First thing I noticed is the NP isn't 2800 lbs like they say its closer to 3200lbs and with fuel and stuff in the front storage area I'm about 3800lbs. All in all I'm about 300lbs over on my rear Axl weight. The funny part is my truck dosent squatt much at all. In my case I was right at the limit for my OEM tires so I upgraded them from the 3750lb rated oem tires to the 4080lb rated tires (just to be safe) I also ended up doing an aftermarket air ride on the back I didn't need it but it made the ride much nicer. I think your setup will be plenty adequate. I also did the washer/dryer all in one in the front closet so that added about 100 lbs to the front. Good luck and safe travels.

I'm currently towing a NP 382FLRB with a RAM 3500 SRW 6.4 Hemi. My payload capacity is fine at 4350lbs, the pulling power/GCVW not so much. So yesterday I ordered a new RAM 3500 DRW with a Cummins HO and the Max Tow package. So when it comes in next Spring I think I will have a much better experience.

And yes, got the 50 gallon tank as well

So, you have already gotten lots of opinions and surely will get some more. I have a Jayco Pinnacle 36FBTS at 16.5K GVWR. Our rig came very well equipped, generator, solar, 3 AC units and really not missing much. Jayco says it weighs 14.7k as equipped with 3 full Gas tanks. As you I was concerned about the weight, and we travel light. I am "guessing we are around 15.5K as we travel. Don't carry heavy grills, no washer and dryer, so far all camps provide them or any heavy toys. it is me, Mama and 2 10 pound dogs. Nothing added to the back of the truck, a 2021 Ram 3500 SRW long bed. It is well equipped, Laramie with a 4000 pounds payload. As you, I have the AUH installed. Truck has the air ride which is wonderful. The truck pulls it wonderfully with zero issues. The AUH does a fantastic job , with zero chucking. I am getting 11.3MPG so far. Is the Dually better? is a freightliner better? sure, but i am totally satisfied with the rig. I am adding hydraulic brakes to the Pinnacle shortly although the drum brakes on the rig and the Exhaust brakes on the truck do a wonderful job.

Your truck will tow and stop the trailer with no problem, but you're likely going to be over on payload and RAWR.

Our GVWR is 16500, pin weight is 4100 (at payload) and rear axle is 8100 (RAWR is 7000). As a result have a DRW on order.

Didn't even consider the Payload when seeing the 24K tow capacity.

Going to go with a Reese Goose Box to save the 200# hitch in the bed.

I also don't understand how the payload is so low.

11,800 GVWR - 7716 Curb Weight should leave be right at 4,084. I'd be fine with that.

3,620 will be close. Honestly even the Eagle would be close.
It sounds like you bought a cool truck, unfortunately all the cool stuff adds weight which consumes payload. I found that out after purchasing my F350 King Ranch but fortunately the 5th we chose is lighter than the 377.

I towed mine 3000 miles round trip to camp for 5 years with a 2006 3500 that was over its max. New truck towing is unreal and just came back from 7.5k mile out west trip. High wind warnings in several out west states and it was windy. Truck drove like my car on a calm day. With that said now this. The RV world has taken off due to covid. Most really big FW I seen were towed by SRW trucks. In campgrounds I was shocked to see big FW and tri axle toy haulers being towed with 2500 or Tri axles with SRW. It seems like a lot of people who had trucks just went out and bought whatever.

I went the other way! had a 2011 RAM 3500 DRW and bought a 2020 377, now have just purchased a 2021 RAM4500 DRW. I haven't had a chance to tow our house yet but I bet it will do just fine! rides like a Mack truck unloaded!

kind of a frankentruck, RAM 4500 60CA cab and chassis that is getting a normal dually bed mounted on to it. But you are right, they don't come from the factory with a normal bed, its a custom add on.

because I've owned RAM 1500's 2500's 3500's but I haven't owned a 4500 so I bought a Laramie 2021 a few weeks back.

sorry to have hijacked thread, but I think the OP question has been sorted.

I'll make a new thread to discuss my ram 4500 when the bed gets mounted.
