Range hood vent

We bought a used 2012 Jayco rlts 321 5th wheel. Haven't used the range hood yet but wife wanted to. The flap on the outside vent is closed and I don't want to break it trying to pry it open. Thought I would ask for some advise first

It shouldn't take too much effort to open. But it does need to be open.

They are very tight. Mine flexes pretty far before it "snaps" open...

Mine has 2 tabs on the bottom edge. You pry them up like opening a battery door on a remote control. Not really hard. Good luck!

It does get easier over time as the catches wear in a bit.

Place both thumbs on the tabs and push up and out and it'll pop open. I have a '12 Eagle and thought I would break it the first few times I opened it.

Check for 2 small tabs that must be turned to unlock the flapper.

You donít turn them, you just just push up on them a bit while pulling them out away from the wall. Iím talking a 1/8Ē up and then 1/8Ē out.

I did not know it needed to be opened. Not a thing in the owners manual. Mine is high in the back above the spare and hard to reach.

I guarantee you will know it's open when it gets windy. Sucker flaps all night.

interesting that the instructions for the range hood vent were not in the 2015 White Hawk Manual (My Year), but are in the 2016 white hawk manual. Thanks Jayco.
