Range/Microwave Exhaust Vent

I have a 28.5RSTS. I really don’t care to have exhaust venting inside. Has anyone modified theirs to exhaust outside?

Our 28.5 RSTS has the vent hood above the range that exhausts to the outside. Is that what you are referring too?

What’s strange is I looked at your model on RVTrader.com and I didn’t see a vent to the right of the kitchen window and I think that’s where the range/ micro is. But on some but not all I looked at had what looks like the outside light for the front door almost at the top of the slide out. Is that a light for the door or a new style vent cover.

Correct on the location of the range/micro. I don’t have a light above the door but do have a rope of LED lights below the awning.

Are you saying you have the range vent(pointed to in the picture), but you don't know how to open it?

I think he just has to open the vent from the outside. Has two clips that need to be pushed up to unlatch it. Looking at the picture, I've never seen a kitchen slide on the passenger side next to the entry door.

There is no vent to open. The exhaust blows inside between the top of the microwave and the ceiling. I would like to have a vent to the outside.

Correct. Not my setup. Would you know if this is something a dealer could install?

On our 28.5 RSTS the microwave does not vent to the outside unfortunately but the vent hood for the range does. The vent is on the forward edge of the kitchen slide and must be opened from the outside. There are two clips that hold it closed.

If your rig doesn't have the vent pictured on the outside, then yes any qualified hand person can add it with the right parts and tools.

I had one added to our brand new Outback last year. In that case, none of that brand came optioned that way. It seems obvious Jayco normally vents them. I would almost contact Jayco to see if it was simply an oversight at the factory, or if it truly optional.

As 2nOZ stated, your range will vent, the microwave will not.

Aggie79,

I think your microwave is adjacent to the refrigerator? If it is, you could install a duct from the rear of the microwave compartment into the roof or upper wall vent for the fridge. That should exhaust the heated air & steam from the microwave without any wall cutting for a new exhaust fan assembly.

Good luck on the mod! ....... Swampy

x2, if he's trying to vent the microwave there's nothing to vent!

I just purchased a 355mbqs and have the same issue. They have changed the microwave to a different style for 2019. From the research I have done, the early 2019's with the new style highpointe microwave, Jayco did not install an exhaust vent. Somewhere along the line Jayco did a mid line change and started installing the exhaust vents. The early and later 2019 model Eagles all have the exact same microwave. I've attached a few pictures for reference. Mine was built in June of 2019 and have found them as early as April. With the exhaust vent installed I have found them as early as August 2019 and later. So, somewhere between June and August, Jayco made the change on the 355mbqs. Look at my attached pictures and you will see the early picture without the vent is early 2019 and with the vent is late 2019. Another picture shows the microwave that is used in both units. Type of refrigerator also does not seem to matter for exhaust microwave exhaust vent. Jayco is not installing an actual oven exhaust fan with this microwave and I believe this microwave is intended to serve as the exhaust fan. Most in home over range microwaves have an option when you install to exhaust inside or outside and believe this particular unit is the same way. Another option for venting is to install a maxair fantastic fan. I currently have a case open with Jayco about this.

Good info, I am clearly out of touch with the way they are currently venting them. Maybe something different on a convection oven?
