RE:Schwintech on Jayco

On the new Jayco's have they had any trouble with the new Schwintech on there slideouts? I have seen other brands has had all kinds of troubles. The new Jayco I have on order has 2 of them I know it is to late to worry about this now but was just wondering.

I've heard of some isolated cases (not just Jayco), but for the most part they have been trouble free. My BIL has them on his 2012 Eagle FW and didn't have any issues all season.

I have 2 Schwintech slides which have performed trouble-free during their first year of use. I read somewhere...can't remember (darned sometimers!) that it is important to keep the worm tracks clean of debris. If you google "Schwintech slide" you'll get quite a bit of info.

On my 2010 321RLMS I had nothing but trouble with the Monster Slide that had that system. However, my 2013 351MKTS I have two of them that have been trouble free thus far.

The Schwintek system on our Bedroom Slide has worked great.

The Schwintek system on our large slide with the Entertainment Center, Stove, Microwave and Refig struggles to work.
When ever we operate the large slide we have to make sure the trailer is level front to rear and side to side or one side will drag and the slide will jam.
We also make sure we are plugged up to power before operating the slide to make sure we have full voltage.

Now that we have learned what to do and not do when operating the large side by making sure it is level and keeping a eye on the tracks for debris it has worked everytime although it still seems to struggle.

How can you tell if your RV has this slide system?

Somewhere in the thread below regarding problems you can find my post from last spring when I had, for me, a bunch of problems with my wardrobe slide in my 2012 HT 26.5 RLS. Three trips to the dealer but I do believe they finally got it fixed/adjusted as it worked great every time since, including three trips to Grand Teton National Park this summer and numerous ins and outs when stored next to the house. I really like the concept of the system, just think they may have had some problems with the installation at the factory early on.

RE: 321RLMS

That may have something to do with why they discontinued that fp. I looked at one and really liked it but that monster slide was scary.

My large slide is Schwintek and I've had lots of issues with it staying in adjustment. It has been in the shop for the last 2 months having the slide fixed. The slide would stahl on one side and sometimes on the other. It was always a guess wondering if it was going to work. It usually required several attempts to get it out. The dealer thinks its the left motor but that doesn't account for why the other side stahls when the motor does work. Jayco has asked them to take it appart and take pictures for them and also to replace the harness which I find interesting. Maybe they have had trouble with them which could explain some of the problems. I do like the simplicity of the system and how there suppose to work. I'm sure once they get it fixed it will be fine.

I just had both motors replaced under warranty. My dealer said Schwintek had trouble with a bad batch of motors. I was only having trouble with the big slide, it would stall when moving in. The dealer had also adjusted slide rollers in the floor down some and this seemed to help the most for my slide. Time will tell as I haven't had to move the slide in since the new motors were installed.

We originally had similar problems with our big door side slide and our local dealer said it was because of the slide gears being 180 degrees out of sync.

With that Lippert/Schwintech sent everything, including new motors, and have no problems since.

All under warranty and overnight shipping of all parts.

We were told by our dealer to make sure to COMPLETELY run the slide ALL the way out and then in. NEVER to stop partially and run it back in as it would mess up the timing in the motor and then would require a full reset at the dealer. It will cause it to fail and not move either direction. Just passing along what our dealer told us.

We have that system only in the bedroom slide. No problems so far and I have ran it out partway numerous times.

The bedroom Schwintek Slides seem to be much more forgiving, I guess since they are typically quite a bit lighter and much shorter than the long heavy Kitchen / Entertainment Slides.

My guess is the Schwintek system is operating at near its max design capacity on these large heavy slides.
