Refridge won’t run on Truck power

2020 Eagle with full size whirlpool refridge. We were all packed up to leave for a trip and noticed the refridge was not coming back on once we unhooked shore power and had truck hooked up. All lights work- BMPRO works - refridge won’t come on. So strange. First time this has happened to us. We have fridge all packed of course 😳🙈. But can’t depend on food not thawing if truck power won’t run the fridge while we travel to our destination. Don’t see any issue with inverter (lights and all are on ). We have hooked shore power back on and spending the night at home.
Any help to diagnose this so we can leave for our trip tomorrow would be wonderful. FYI we did replace batteries in RV 2 weeks ago on another trip.

well the inverter doesn't run your lights. check these things:

1. Is the battery disconnect switch on....double check!
2. are the house batteries charged and in good shape?
3. do you have inverter power on any of the inverter powered outlets?
4. What is the inverter display saying for power and annunciations...errors etc?
5. Is the circuit breaker for the inverter set and not tripped

Sounds like you have the inverter wired wrong on the batteries or their dead, that is how the fridge should be powered. The truck only stops them from discharging too fast since it provides a small charge while driving.

Learjet won....

New batteries 2 weeks ago

Refridge worked fine on last trip AFTER new battery install. Worked fine all the home from that trip also.
We DID take it to dealer after that trip b/c BMPRO was out. They also rehooked water supply to refridge. Something not done properly in previous warranty work.
Thanks for all these suggestions - we will try and figure it out.

If they disconnected the batteries for any reason they may not have put the inverter cables back on the right posts. Also check the inverter to be sure there isn't an off on switch on the front that they may have turned off. Our 08 had a switch as well as the inside remote panel

Im thinking batteries are somehow toast, or the button is not pushed to power the inverter when on batts. The truck doesn’t run the inverter. The truck just sends a little to the batteries, but ultimately the batteries power the fridge via the inverter.

Maybe the dealer drained the batteries. They’re notorious for that.

I would start by checking the battery. First to see if it is charged and being charged and as mention to make certain every cable was reinstalled correctly. A very dead battery seems most likely.

Make sure both inverter control box buttons are "on". I found that even if the one in the basement is pushed in, if the one in the bedroom is out, the inverter won't work, or vise versa.

Am I just learning something new after 5 years of running propane while traveling? I ASSuMEd the truck would not carry the load of the refrig., and so I switched to gas and took off- never tried to switch it while hooked up to the truck...

In your case it won't unless you have a 3 way fridge. The fridge is question is a residential not a 120/LP.

Thanks Grumpy. I thought I had been living in cave for a while.

Yes, I have the 120/LP option; not the big boy fridge.

The original poster has a Whirlpool residential refrigerator, 120-volt AC only, no propane option.

A lot of dealers as a matter of safety turn off the master disconnect. Might check that.

Do all of what Learjet stated but also since the dealer worked on the fridge check to insure the power cord is plugged in.
