removing sealant around king jack antenna

Anyone know of a good way to remove the putty/sealant around the base of the king jack antenna. I need to replace and it is sealed really good. Sure don't want to damage roof. I guess it may be the dicor sealant everyone is talking about???

I replaced a vent that had Dicor around it. It stays pretty soft, I used a plastic putty knife and just scraped it off. The roof material is a little stretchy, so it gives a bit before it tears. Just take it slow.

Try using a blow dryer with plastic putty knife. Or, very carefully use a heat gun with plastic putty knife. Just keep it moving and don’t hold it too close.

You are right. I did mine on a 80 degree day. I heat gun on these cool fall days would probably help.

Well, at least I found out why my King Jack Antenna is not working. There is a very thin coax cable connecting the rooftop antenna to the signal meter crank inside the rig. After turning this back and forth looking for the best signal, the coax broke, hence no signal. Still have to remove and replace the original on the roof.
