Replacement for radio in NorthPoint

So we all agree the TVs are garbage in the Northpoint s but my wife is wanting to do something about the factory radio.

It sounds like crap. Is there a high end replacement I can buy somewhere?

About ready to get a boom box and call it a day!

Thanks

Vic

Just asking here, but what is so garbage about the TV's in the Northpoint?

As far as the radio goes, ours works just fine. The sound quality could be a little better. I'm not expecting Bose, Harmon Kardon, etc., type quality by any means either.

The sound is downright awful. If someone has a decent HGTV with even a cheap sound bar at home that they are used to then they would notice a different. My home system is by no means state of the are but if I don't turn on the sound bar and let the sound come out of the TV speakers there is a noticeable difference.

Same for the radio. My wife likes to have the radio on pretty much anytime we don't have the TV on. Yes it plays music but the sound quality could be much better.

I've read on several posts on this forum of folks that swapped out the speakers for better quality speakers and reported no increase in sound quality which leads me to believe the head unit could be better.

You pay as much as we all did for our second home on wheels it seem they could at least have an upgraded sound system as an option.

My 2 cents; your mileage may vary!

I raised my TV 2" and it made a world of difference in the sound quality and also made the remote control reception much better!

Modern TVs all have garbage for speakers. That's because they are really designed to be used with surround sound systems.

Call Crutchfield. Tell them what you have and where it's mounted. Tell them what you are trying to accomplish. They will be able to recommend a replacement head unit (or 3) and speakers. And they should have mounting hardware to make the job easy.

How did you raise it 2"? Is it the kind that rises up out of the cabinet?
