That is actually a really good idea. Would also allow a person to get to a safe place in the event of a failure. Have had it happen to me when I drove over the road full time. Passed the pull test and inspection of the jaws when hooking up but the right jaw in my fifth wheel had broken and allowed the pin to slip past once I started moving and turning in the lot. Thankfully it was an empty trailer as semis don't have powered landing gear!!
