Here's a quote from etrailer that may help. "The 88 error code means the blower fan is overheating. You want to make sure the inlet and outlets of the fireplace are free of install debris and allowed proper air flow. The outlet is the wire mesh on the front of the fireplace and the outlet is the vent on the top of the fireplace."
