If you leave your inverter turned on, it will automatically switch over when you plug into shore power. You can turn the inverter off when on shore power if you want but make sure you turn it back on before traveling.

By using a dummy filter case with the charcoal filter removed, it will allow you to flush all of the RV anti-freeze out of the line. Then you put a real filter back in. We have not noticed any taste to the the ice. We do let it make a load of ice and then dump that ice out.

Thanks for the info.

Winterizing Residential Frig

My frig will allow water or antifreeze through to the water dispenser and ice maker with the water filter unplugged. I take the water filter out and winterize the frig and then I dewinterize it by running water through the dispenser until it runs clear and then plug the water filter back in. I do run the ice maker until the bin is full and dump it.This has worked great for me and I haven't had any taste in the water or the ice.

Not for the Whirlpool that came in my 2019 North Point (at least when I checked last November), but its also not needed. I was able to take the filter out and the unit functions fine without it.

For the whirlpool in my 20129 North Point I used air (and not antifreeze) as instructed in my manual. I had no water coming out of the water dispenser and I left the ice maker on for a few days to go through some cycles. Nothing came out.

Turned the water back on a couple of weeks ago to clean sanitize the system and I had a leak from behind the fridge. I have elminated all areas of leaking up until the water line that goes behind the unit, so it's either the water line, or the fridge itself that froze.

If I ever get it fixed, I am using antifreeze.

Most likely it is the solenoid valve and that is the risk of only using air to winterize.

I have a whirlpool and I used my ryobi 1 gal 18volt air compressor set to 40psi and blow out all my lines.

I ran the water dispenser on the frig until only air came out.

Then I removed the water filter my 2018 eagle came with the whirlpool and you don’t need a bypass the water flows without a filter.

I then used antifreeze and waited until I saw it come from the frig and then moved on to the other fixtures including the washer/dryer.

By the time I was done I had some pink cubes that I promptly dumped in the sink.

I then closed the valve under my sink where the water line branches to the slide for the fridge.

I used the camco refrigerator organizer spring bars to keep the doors from fully closing and used a couple of plastic grocery bags tied through the door handles to keep the doors just slightly open and prevent them from fully opening.

To de-winterize I cleared the rest of the camper first - sinks, toilet, etc. then opened the valve under the sink and kept draining the pink antifreeze from the frig water dispenser until it was clear.

I Installed a fresh type 1 water filter, reset the water filter indicator on the frig and let the ice maker run over night I got a couple trays worth of pink cubes and the rest were regular looking - I dumped all of it and the ice has been good - no taste that I can detect, of course I tried it over some Clyde Mays 110 proof alabama whiskey ; ).

For the record over the past year mostly the past month I have about 3700 miles - I did update my batteries to BattleBorn Lithiums no issues.

You have to bring the slide in between 1/2 and 2/3 of the way. The door will open enough then to get the bins out to clean them and underneath them.

Thanks for the info on being able to get the drawers out without stopping the slide 1/2 to 2/3 in. I had only tried getting them out with the slide out and there was no way. Tried it with the slide all the way in and with a little maneuvering they came right out so I could clean the walls, bottom, and the bins themselves.

while driving your connection to the trailer will charge your battery just like the one in your vehicle. then the invertor will run the fridge.

X2. Just came back from an 1800 mile round trip up to Kansas City. Ran the residential fridge all four travel days. Everything ice cold, including the ice in the ice bin, lol. Love it!

Cool. This is my first residential fridge and wanted to see what everyone did. Fridges used to be picky about level.
