I made it 22 months ago Gone Camping. You know you are officially retired when you forget what day it is. It took me about a year. Now I don't know most of the time unless I look at my smart phone. Yes I have a smart phone. You can't give up technology, but I'm trying.

Please let me know how it feels. I can`t even begin to contemplate retirement. I was at the dumpstation last Summer talking to a guy who was dumping next to me. I said well, back to work tomorrow. He looked at me, grinned, and said "I feel for ya". The look on his face said it all. He was lovin` retirement.

I retired May 1, 2004. How sweet it is! Like they say, time flies when you're having fun camping.

I retired June 11th of 2010 and haven't worn a wrist watch since. Be careful as the honeydo list will get bigger. Stay active any enjoy your retirement.

December of 05 for me. I can't keep track of the time nor day of the week any more and don't intend to. My wife tries to keep track for me. She calls it quits the end of this June. Then we can really hit the road.
For all of you still employed, hopefully your time will come!

Congrats Gone Camping! Not sure if I'll ever retire, but my work isn't too bad. And I can do it pretty much anywhere my travel trailer is parked, so it gives me something to do when I'm seeing new sights.

How many more days now?

I’m envious of you guys. I had a taste of it this past year with a 10 month med leave from work. Thought I’d go crazy, but I loved it. More to life than work. Only 46, so I have a ways to go.

I've got 1402 days before I can retire. My financial guys said i could go then but he'd like to see me stick it out for 2.5yrs after that. 1402 days put me at 30yrs and 52.5yrs old.

Back in July we had a bunch of guys retire. I guess a few are coming back to work as "temps", up to 5 yrs of work, and making their same pay as when they left. Here's the kicker, the severance pay they got is being prorated and they have to give it back. So basically they are coming to work for the next 7 months for free! DUMB!!!!

I got three words for people like that,... GET A LIFE!!

I don't care how much money you make or have, one thing money can't buy, TIME!

Lake Huron - completely agree! can't buy back time...reason I decided to
retire from USAF this year and travel around the country with DW while we
have the chance...it's been a blessing and way less stress! No house
note, no bills, and now no debt.
