Had a Peragon, but with my pin box (Goose Box), the bed rail tracks would get hit approaching 90 degrees.

Switched to a hard construction flip top style, uses no tracks, sits on top of bed rails. Looks great, very sturdy. Extang Solid Fold 2.0.

However, the height of the cover when folded up is pretty tall, and I have made contact with my 5er front cap under an extreme articulation. It’s also super heavy when it comes to pulling in and out of bed.

I'm thinking of using a vinyl type folding cover when traveling... which I used to have but sold on facebook marketplace...

Truxedo rollup. 2nd truck, 2nd Truxedo. I have a B&W Companion that stays in the bed all camping season. I have been a hard shell topper man on all my trucks prior to the truxedo.

I have used a soft cover that rolls up behind the cab. Very easy to cover bed when we are touring with the RV but full access to hitch and storage box

Currently using the Trifecta 2.0 manufactured by Extang. I’ve had it on my F150 for 2 years, it has stood up to the intense heat in NC and keeps the bed dry. Highly recommended.

X2 on the Bakflip, would never go without. Can travel with the 5er and still keep the front 1/4 of bed dry. Can close and lock everything when unhooked.

I also use the trifold on my 8' bed. fold back to the last section behind the cab, have a 2' spacer between it slotted in the appropriate grooves in my bed. Makes for excellent dry storage while towing. Also flips back when not towing for easy access to my tool box.

I have a gator trifold flip cover. Works well but if you need something in the very front of the bed then you need to take it off. It’s pretty easy to do. Survived 2 years thru car washes and heavy storms.

The Gator trifold takes up about 18 inches or more at the front of the bed when stored. Mine was interfering with the hitch in turns so they swapped it for a roll up. I really like it and it did not break the bank. Material is warrantied for 10 years.

I have a Bak Revolver X4 and it is awesome. Roll up to attach the 5er and down for security after unhooking.

Roll and lock. I’ve had bak flips in the past, and I do like them but with a fifth wheel I like not having the cover folded in front just in case the trailer might hit the cover while turning.

Should have mentioned that the Revolver X4 is an aluminum backed roll up. I figure that if I cut a corner close enough to hit the roll-up (I've never come close) that I would rather hit it than the cab of the truck.

I researched a few for my new 2021 GMC 2500 and decided on the Gator retractable. It is expensive but I really like it. Fits tight to the bed rail with good clearance for the fiver. It has a lock which makes the bed more secure. You do loose some space in the front for the canister but I can live with that as it is a great addition and the rear window is completely clear.

I have a Roll N Loc rolling bed cover and would recommend. Used the same cover on work trucks for many years with good service and carried it over to my TV now that I’m retired. Rolling cover that locks and have not had any issues with water leakage.

I have the B&W Companion hitch in the bed of my truck and I use the Access roll cover. I had mine installed be Ziebart here in Indiana. The first year I had it we got a hole that looked like it was burned in. I didn't know if was an ember from fire or someone tossing a cigarette out. Access replaced the cover put I had to pay $40 for the labor to replace it. I thought it was fair given we couldn't determine the cause. I have had it 7 years with no issues. I have seen the try folds and I like the dry storage they offer while towing. I have wondered how easy it is to access the front of the bed though while towing the FW. Can you lift all three panels to access the front of the bed with the FW in tow?

I had one for a short time and besides the hitch hitting it, I also lost access to my tool box or what ever was at the front of the bed. No way I could even get in there with the trailer hooded up with the short bed.

I got a Extang Trifecta. It's a trifold soft cover. Lightweight and flips up into 3 sections easily from one side, one person job. Great cover, and when its folded up, it latches and I tow down the road with it that way. It does grab some wind and lifts up a little bit but nothing to worry about and doesnt make any noise.
One drawback is, if you make a rather tight turn on uneven ground you really have to watch the overhang of the trailer otherwise itll make contact. Standard bed trucks make it more challenging. I have a long bed dually and sometimes have an issue. When I get to a campground most of the main camp roads are ok, but when I get to the site tight turns are involved and most of the time I'll just take it off and set it on the table at the site until I get the trailer situated, then put it back on. Like I said it goes on and comes off easily and quickly enough.

Going back to a roll-up cover. Currently have a BAK MX4 and wish I hadn't wasted the money on it. About the only good thing about it is the security, other than that it's heavy, leaks like a sieve and scratches/dents easily. IMHO not worth the price.
