Roller Shade

My rear window roller shade used to lock into place and is no longer staying down. I adjusted the tension but that isn't working. Anyone have a fix for this? Thanks

If they are MCD shades, repair parts are available, but pricey in my opinion. 2 of mine have been problematic, they seem to work better if the spring tension isn't overly tight. Try to dissassemble, look for obviously broken parts. If none, fiddle with the non spring end with the plastic threads and nut and re assemble and adjust. I believe there are videos on u tube for dissasembly.

We have one that is now broken / non-working.

Did you have any luck trying to fix your Irvine shades?

We have had one replaced under warranty, and are now out of our warranty, so we are on our own. These Irvine shades are frustrating for sure, and we have had them in two different 5er's now, and have failed 4 shades, 2 in each one...

Not sure what brand we have, but one of the blackout shades failed. I was told by different sources to replace them, not fixable. Waiting on them from dealer

I called Irvine Shade Company and ordered a new spring. I haven’t replaced it yet, but the company told me that the spring was the issue.

Thanks for the reply!

Yeah, that's what I figured. Just out of curiosity, how much does one of those springs cost?

If you have Irvine Shades (should be a sticker on one of the bottom bars), they have replacement parts. Dont know what they cost or hard they are to replace, though...

The spring was $35. Not sure if the price is different for the various shade lengths. My shade was 72 inches.

I hate the "string" shades they use in these RV's. My dinette shade malfunctioned, string broke and disappeared inside somewhere. I replaced it with this blind from Home Depot for like $36. I love it! Works sooo much better! I will continue to just replace them as they fail.
