Roof Ridges

If u followed my thread under Camping World I talked about the nails or screws backing out under the TPO. Thanks to Jayco customer service all my problems that CW did not fix after three months they have documented for future repairs since we r full timing now. Last week I noticed just forward of my rear security light the TPO separated from the run rail about four inches long. So up on roof I go to temp cover the seam with RTV silicone (will remove or cover with dico soon) while up there the luanne has lifted in numerous spots down both edges of the roof. It looks like sharp ridges pushing up on the TPO. I emailed several pics to Jayco customer service. This will definitely be a new roof repair. My unit was built in Oct 2015. AZ who has dropped off this site and e mails had his unit built two ahead of mine. AZ is the one who posted last year about his roof doing the same and than his slide jamming from a collapsed outrigger. That started the outrigger problems. Anyone else with this issue? I will try and post pics

You can see how the ridges are lifting up the TPO on each side of the ridges by about four inches. We r under an oak tree so the other stuff are leaves an acorns.

I'm 107. I had a couple staples that popped up, but my dealer fixed them , that's been it.

They glue down the luann right? If so they might of got a batch of bad glue. CW covered up one nail hole and put dico over the rest that were coming up. They must of went from staples to nails. I am glad I am sitting and not on the road if driving I bet those ridges would cut thru the TPO. Temp and humity seems to flatted them done some than back up again.

No, luan is screwed at the seams and stapled to the rest of the joists. Your ridges are probably staples used for the aluminum that forms the edge arch.

Ok, so now I wonder why the alumn is lifting and than going down and back up. Has to be very thin and temp is effecting all the loose spots. There is no way they can fix that without a new roof TPO and repairs. I guess I have to look at the upside it will be almost two years old when I can get in to a shop than new roof. But I would rather have a good factory roof from the start. Like having a new car repaired and painted. Never as good but close.

Hey rock, Here's a pic of mine before repair. Both sides. Not the best pic though. I looked today. Looks a little lumpy along that ridge line where your is messed up. I need to get up there and look it over again. Balance poor today so I don't dare go up there. They just peeled mine up from what i was told and re stapled. Just funny we are in the same area, could it be the Florida sun?

Shadster
Yours is lumpy left to right. Mine has the sharp ridges like Grumpy said looks like the alumn has lifted to cause the sharp ridges. I already have a small hole where the nail or screw came thru and has dico over it. Why the TPO came out from under the rail is another issue. It must of been cut to short. They need to remove the entire TPO fix the alumn and Luann and install new TPO. Did they actually pull up the TPO along the entire length of both sides to repair underside? I have been researching on line everything I can find. If the roof moldings are removed New need to be installed or it will never look right. The Fl sun sucks but mine was in NY at my camp under trees until Aug than back here. During my PDI Nov 2015 there were a few little ridges I showed them, they said it would be documented. Months latter roof was smooth. Even on Nov 20 when I inspected CW repair covering up the nail hole with dico there was a few small ones but only on the left side. Now I am sitting full time and TPO pulls out from side rail and have ridges on both sides. I bet the TPO was barely under the side rail and the lifting of the alumn and Luann pulled it out from the side rail. Hey if u go on up on your roof first thing in morning sober ur balance will be better. LOL . I know what u mean I am in good shape but 63 and going up the latter stuff does not bend and flex like it use to. I could not pass a DYI test sober anymore.

The other thing I noticed on roof walking in spots u can feel the roof push down. I have several seems left to right where u can push down on the TPO and it feels like it goes down between two roof sections. Almost like u had two sheets of plywood nailed down but with almost half inch gap between. I think my roof was a late Friday or early Monday install.

Yes rock, they apparently took the trim off and peeled it back a few feet. Then fixed and laid back down. Yours sounds short in that one area that left that gap. What I was saying is when the sun was out today I could see that Ridge like yours. Not as sharp as your but pronounced so to speak. Now that the sun is down it looks 100% improved. Just thought when warm it would expand some. Looks like we both may end up with re roofs. Mine by the accident though.

Ya something is not right. I have walked around in my park and most roofs are TPOs like ours and from a distance all are smooth and than down on the side and rail covers them. I can see six others from my roof and looked with binoculars and all are rounded with no ridge spots. If anyone seen me doing that probably I am now labeled peeping Tom of the travel park.

That's a sad repair. If you don't get a better resolution I'd suggest covering the "repair" with eternabond tape (now called stick n bond). I've sealed the perimeter of our roof with it and it is STICKY.
