Put 1 cup of bleach in your fresh water tank then fill. Turn your water pump on and open all faucets until you get the bleach smell in the water. You likely have bacteria growth in your water system, but the fix is easy. I got this on my first rig, and took to adding 1/2 ounce of regular Clorox bleach (not the color safe stuff) when filling my water tank. I keep a small squeeze bottle handy and put it in the hose before attaching. If I am using the rig daily, I do it ever 2-3 fills (assuming I trust my water sources), but I do this for every fill if I am not using the rig daily. A hint of chlorine taste is not a problem, but if strong, you will want to back off the amount of bleach you add.

My .02 worth. The bad water smell comes from usually, well water. Rarely will you get this smell from city water. If you are at a campground with well water and leave, go home, do not empty the HW heater, and it sits for weeks, then you are going to get the smell. When this happens, the easy way to clean it up is to, first, empty the HW heater, put plug back in, pour some bleach down your garden hose, connect back to city water hook-up, go inside, run each faucet until you smell bleach and turn them off. Let this sit for about an hour or so and then run all faucets for about two to three minutes each. Don't forget to run the hot water side. This will clear the smell and clean the HW heater as well. Again, just my hillbilly way of cleaning up the smell. I should mention, this is done because I rarely use my pump. I am always on city water. If you use your pump, then some bleach goes into the fresh water tank and the process is done with your pump. SKIDAWG

Forgot to mention. I also rinse my HW heater after I have applied the bleach. Connected to city water, with the HW heater plug removed, just let the water run and it will clean all the sediments from the tank. SKIDAWG

We had the same problem with our old camper and asked around found out you should drain hot water heater after it cools down. been doing it and no smell
