Santa Fe to Farmington (NM)

Pulling a 2018 Eagle 355 mbqs (?) from Santa Fe to Farmington tomorrow. The route has me taking hwy 550. Anyone familiar with this route? I had never pulled a trailer of any kind until I left CHARLESTON SC on 6/2/2018. I have learned a lot, but I still don’t like busy, poorly maintained roads!

It’s remote without many services, but the road is in fine. Just top of in Santa Fe before you leave, and check tires, etc before you pull out.

Cuba, NM used to have a descent selection of services but I haven’t been on 550 in years.

There is also a new travel center/casino at the intersection of 550 and SH 537, about 20 miles past Cuba.

So, I have pulled this thing up and down Teton Pass. Would like to avoid 10% grades in th future if possible. Headed from Victor to Big Sky then to Bannick then Missoula and on to Glacier. Is there a route to stay below 10%?
