Schwintec shim kit

Anyone ever here of this? The repair shop said they installed the shim kit to fix my kitchen slide. Can find nothing on line about this shim kit. Had back of slide come out about six inches driving on highway and than it would cock and Jam on closing. I have an extended warranty and told them if it needed shimming than something wore down and I do not want a band aid.

Why not contact JAYCO or LIPPERT and ask them directly, I've never heard of one either?

Since the motor is the brake to keep it from moving only thing I could think of is possibly the slide moved enough that the gears and track lost contact with each other. Adding a shim behind the track would stop that from happening. Just my theory..

My buddies " grand design " started doing the same thing 1st he camped in it last March. His dealer put some kind of shim plate on one side but it still " pops " when extending/retracting. His Rv has had more problems in this 1st year of ownership than I've had in my 9 years of my Jayco.

Grumpy,
I will give LCI a call and tell them exactly what happened and dealer fix. Looking at the design a shim would be a band aid to a wore down gib and gear. Upper and lower gears would have to both not mesh with the track for slide to come out driving.

It may be possible that the box isn’t wide enough and a very loose fit from the factory Causing the slippage

It was at the factory once and they said they adjusted it and added the Teflon pads on bottom where rollers rub. They also replaced the bent outriggers but those failed and repairs were on me.

Following this. I just googled this topic with “Schwintec” (schwinteK) “shim kit” and found this thread, plus normal hits for lippert/ schwintek slide parts. Nothing for “shim kit”. Let us know what you find out.

Adding shims can mean a bunch of things. According to Jayco when we take the Accolade in for Factory Service in April they are going to "shim" our dinette slide to raise it approx 1/4 inch. After shimming they will also have to re-paint the side of the coach because the graphics will no longer line up.

Do u even have a schwintec slide? Shimming of slides is way different on slide mechanisms.

Actually, on the Accolade, I have three slides and they are all different. The one in the bedroom is a Schwinteck. Jayco changed over to the Schwintec for the bedroom slides a year or two ago.

Talked with LCI. They sent me info on shim kit. It was made to fix a manufacturing defect that effected Forest River RVs from
2015-2016. It is a nylon block that pushes in at bottom of tq shaft and u
Install screw to hold in place. They told me it sounds more like my problem is worn gear parts. Said if shaft came out it would stay out or keep popping. Mine only did it once and than slide jammed and motor would not turn. Said that is more a wear issue. Now to deal with service manager on my problem. I asked about the triple track rack. He said that is beefier with steel shaft and 500 -1 motors. He said unless slide room wall has a backing u cannot use it. The rail track would rip out from slide wall.

We had a different type of shim kit installed on the big slide in our 2015 36KPTS. As Grumpy originally suggested it was mounted behind the tracks and helped to keep the track and gears from losing contact. The kit consisted of aluminium bars that came in a choice of thicknesses from 1/8 to 3/8 inches. Ours seemed to work for awhile until once again the shaft between the top and bottom gears broke. It was originally intended to help remedy an out of square slide opening.

Next week I am going to the service dept to find out exactly what they did. Remember this is the same place that will not work on my generator ( under my post how stupid is this).
