Schwintek Problem

Here is a problem I have not heard of before, so I thought to share it.

The big kitchen slide on my 377RLHB never stayed in sync. One side always went out and came in before the other, leaving the slide cockeyed. I have followed the syncing instructions many times to get it realigned. I always believed the slide was simply to heavy for the system. Eventually, the constant misalignment caused damage that made a motor keep popping out of position.

Camping World replaced the entire slide mechanism under my extended warranty. After the new installation, there was still a syncing problem. They traced it to a break in a control cable, which is being replaced tomorrow. You can imagine my relief that I was not going to keep having this problem for the life of the trailer.

All new mechanism, and probably fixed, too. A happy ending!

So one of the wires from the controller to each motor is responsible for keeping the motors in sync? May have something to do with the problem I'm having with my kitchen slide.

I did not ask which wire it was. I will call Camping World and post the info when I get it.

Which Wire Is It

The broken wire was from the controller in the pass thru storage to motor 1.

So I don't know if its related but I spoke to one of the higher-ups at Thor and he told me to never run the slides when only on battery power and to only run them when your attached to shore power. He said that the batteries don't work the motors the same way and can cause one to come out of sync with the other. Don't know if its true or not but I have only used shore power to operate them and knock on wood no issues.

It's amazing how many varying opinions we get from various "experts". According to Lippert, all of the 12V systems on your unit are running on battery power. The shore power is only charging the batteries, not running the systems. I learned this when I was having problems with the leveling system. To me, it is a crime that the dealers sell us these coaches with batteries that are insufficient to finish setting up a trailer when you get to your camp site. The battery charger in most units can not charge the batteries as fast as the leveling and slide systems are draining them. It becomes the owners responsibility to upgrade the batteries to what the unit really needs. These systems do not work when your battery voltage is low.

I upgraded to (3) high ampacity Group 27 batteries, which along with the solar and shore power charging seems sufficient for my unit. If I get more into off the grid camping, I have space for (3) more batteries.
