Screw head coming through the eternabond tape

Brand new NorthPoint 315 On one of the slideouts I have a screw head coming through the eternabond tape. The dealer wants to add dicor on the exposed head and not replace the tape. Anyone have experience and does this seem right?

Can you apply another strip of tape on top of the old tape? TIA.

IMO the compromised slide roof trim sealer tape should be removed and replaced. Also, not a good application for a Dicor patch-fix due to the location (horizontal wiper seal contact).

I wouldn't recommend adding a 2nd layer of tape because Jayco normally uses a thin sub-grade sealer tape covering these slide roof trim applications and degrades rapidly (unlike Eternabond sealer tape). I've seen new 2018 Jayco units on dealer lots with the tape already pulling away from the slide roof EPDM surface.

My prior 2005 Eagle I replaced the OEM slide roof tape after 6 years with Eternabond sealer tape (screw heads starting to work through) and that was back when Jayco used a better grade of tape. My new 2018 Jay Flight I went ahead and applied Eternabond to the slide roof trim..., and ran a bead of Dicor along the edge of the tape that backs up to the 4" slide flange.

We had the same issue. The flat head screws were driven in at an angle and the tape used was stretched over the heads. The tech at the dealer left the original tape in place, sealed the heads with dicor and covered the entire front edge of all 3 slides with slightly wider beige eternabond.
It looks very professional and clean. His comment was that they should have used a button head screw, driven in straight. We are lucky enough to have had total access to the service dept and the individual techs, right in the shop. They have been very accommodating on the phone, via email and in person. Unfortunately they are 4 hrs away. l will keep and eye on the slides as we use it this season.

Did you remove existing tape before applying new tape? Any tricks to getting old tape off?

I would recommend removing the original tape, eliminates the chance of it becoming an issue and compromising the integrity of the new tape.

Depending on the strength/age of the adhesive the tape may be removed without incident. I have used a heated hair blow dryer on sealer tape and slowly peeled back the tape (especially Eternabond tape) from the EPDM roof surface.

Dealer just doubled up mine.
It was because some screws were on an angle.
Make them take it off and fix the screws.
Jayco should clean house of those “Amish craftsman” and give homeless vets the job.
Send the factory hacks back to their farms for good.

It isn't the fault of the "Amish craftsman" for the shoddy work. The homeless vets would do just as bad, if not worse, simply because of the intense pace Jayco expects their employees. Amish or otherwise, to maintain.
