Shocks for North Point?

Thinking of getting some shocks on my 377. Mainly to help smooth out the ride and not have all the stuff in my pantry and fridge bounced around all over the place. Not quite convinced myself I need (want) them. I've been looking at the joyrider and the LCI kits. Joyrider is twice the price but it's not made by lippert. Doubt that it's "twice as good" so I'm kinda leaning to the lippert if I do it.

Anyone with shocks on their unit? Would like some real world opinions not marketing hype from a commercial or advertisement, if you know what I mean. Thanks!

Tom does your 5th wheel ride that rough?
My Pinnacle seems to ride really well, at least so far.
Not sure how much change shocks would actually make.
Did your dealer get your brakes changed already?

I wouldn't say it rides really rough, but we do have to be careful when we open the fridge or pantry when we get to the campground. I think part of the issue could be from having a bike rack with 3 bikes on the back of the trailer. We don't have as much jostling of things without the bikes.

I take my trailer into dealer tomorrow for the brakes. Actually I take it tomorrow for them to put me in line for them to look at it. Then they'll decide whether to fix them or not.

We have an aluminum rack on the back with two bikes......didn't notice any difference.

Good Luck at dealer.

I'm actually surprised that you need the shocks Tom. I've usually got 4 bikes on the back and I've (knock on wood) never had any problems (yet!) with opening the pantry or fridge with regards to things shifting.

I can't say one is better than the other. Been a while since I looked at them, but I think the joy rider installation looked a tad easier. Gotta be real careful mounting the LCI shock brackets. Have seen several people drill through a holding tank wall. I'd probably go with the LCI kit for finance reasons. My last fifth wheel already had the mounting holes on the plates, just needed the upper brackets.

On our 2011 Eagle both upper/lower mounts were factory installed. I called my dealer, Jayco, LCI & no one could give me a pn to buy a shock. Etrailer said use a certain Monroe, got 4 but didnt find time for about 6 months todo install. They don't fit, too long even when fully compressed so if I do over will be the joyrider.

Cracked a spring a few weeks ago and have been accumulating parts to complete my upgrade. Included are 8 leaf, 4k springs and the Lippert Shock kits from Etrailer. They arrived yesterday and the frame bracket clears my tires with my dry fit, so the plan is in the next few weeks to pull it all apart and install.

I plan to document and post a thread once complete. My theory is that since it's all coming apart anyway, why not.

I did an easy mod a while back, that minimizes stuff falling off the pantry shelves. All it is as a "stretchable" lightweight tail gate net and a handful of small cup hooks. Did the same on the shelves in the bedroom nose closet shelves.

I wouldn't say I "need" the shocks. I do think they would help. The pantry can be dealt with by putting things in the drawers but the fridge always seems to have a coke can or bottle of water fall to the floor when the door is open. Maybe I'll just get some bars for the fridge to keep things in place and be done with it.

Fire_Instructor, what's going on with the blue painters tape in your picture.

On the first trip with the 5'er, the pantry door partially opened (stopped from opening further by the island) and a box of pancake batter fell off the shelf, and wedged between the door and the shelf... It rubbed some of the spray-on "frost" of of the pantry door glass, so wife bought a can of spray-on frost at the hardware store, taped it all off, and sprayed the scraped area. It actually came out pretty good!

After that, I installed the netting, and we now stuff a pillow between the island and the pantry door when we travel, to keep it from opening....

I'm just going by what I remember reading somewhere. The Lippert shocks snap off the frame bracket. And the tubes sometime bend. And the whole system isn't very good.
The Joy Rider looks sort of decent.
But that's just what I heard, so take it however you want.

Maybe it's because the 377 is so long past the axels. I don't have any trouble inside my pantry. I do have the fridge issue though. Mine is about 3-4 feet shorter.
I would certainly like to hear how the shocks work from someone willing to try.

On my SOB, before I installed the 5th Airbourne I would find stuff jostled about all the time. After install, I accidentally left a half full cup of water on the counter and it didn't spill.

Sounds like my previous Mobile Scout fifth wheel. I forget which MORryde suspension it had, but between that and the MORryde pin box, it was extremely stable and smooth. Left a glass on the table once, and it was still there several hundred miles later.

Tom hurry up and put the Joy Rider shocks on. I would like to see how well they work . I'm considering the MORryde IS $460 vs $3450.

After a 1300 mile trip I have not been impressed with the ride quality.

LOL!

I'd love to but my trailer is at the dealer getting brakes fixed. Also getting a couple other things fixed while it's there. I'm still on the fence about the shocks...
