Shore power cord

Hi I am new to a fifth wheel and was wondering what is the correct thing to do when it is parked and not in use at home. Leave the power cord plugged in, what about the 12 volt main power switch in the garage ? Thanks in advance .

May not be right to all but I keep mine plugged in to maintain batteries and makes it easy if I fell like driveway camping.

I don't understand the part about the 12v power switch?

I'm guessing the 12volt power cutoff in the pass through storage "garage"

If you have it plugged in to shore power you can keep the 12v disconnect switch on. If you don't plug in, I would turn the 12v disconnect switch off.

I have an htt, but when it comes to power there all the same until you look at MHs.

You can leave it plugged in at home, I use a 15 amp to 30 amp adaptor. This keeps the battery charged, allows use of lights fans and etc.

If you are not connected to shore power, there are parisite draw on the battery(s) that will drain them dead in a week or two. So, if your not plugged in, you need to disconnect the battery. However on some of the fancy rigs, the disconnect does NOT disconnect all parisite draws, such as the auto leveling system, and the devices that use the remote control, such as the slideout. The control modal always have a parisite drain.
