Shower Doors
Hi All:
Just came back from Miami Area and when I went to unload saw this big Mess.  I swear I locked it......
Any one else make this mistake? Any Idea of Price to Replace one panel?

Maybe check with a local glass company?

Just happened to me on my last outing...only mine happened in transit to the park. I'm positive that I latched ours as well, as I have it on my checklist before departing. I don't know the cost, as mine is still under warranty and I was told that the entire shower door assembly shipped from Jayco yesterday and is due in next week. If I can get my 5er in next week, I'll check on what the price was for ours.

My, my, my,... what a mess! That's always been a fear of mine. The door shouldn't be that big of a deal or price to replace. A good glass shop should be able to make you a new panel pretty easily.

Shower Doors
Our shower door lock is so tight I can't imagine it unlocking. But I also can't imagine enough sideways or up and down force on an unlocked door to cause it to break under normal conditions either. Did you travel on extremely bumpy roads at speed? Maybe the door bounced out of the track and fell...

Actually, a shop can't make one easily. Shower door glass has to be tempered glass. Tempered glass has to be first cut to size, then reheated and cooled at a controlled rate, something most shops are not able to do and have to farm out.

@ SouthCo The Road I take from Miami Everglades campground has been the same, Florida Turnpike to 95 North @ Ft Pierce. Overall Route is smooth. I guess lock vibrated off.

I found mine unlocked and inoperable once. I repaired the slider in the header and added a bungee cord to the latch so it never happens again. I loop the cord over the latch and the hooks fit nicely under the edge of the sink.

That's one of my worst fears. DW is responsible for latching that item during travel prep, but I swear, I will check that thing 4 or 5 times before we burn any fuel!
As for how it happened, it's not a far stretch to assume that it slid from one side of the opening to the other. Even on a mild turn at controlled speeds, that door can get some momentum sliding that far, and could certainly cause a break.
OP, keep the post updated, I'd like to hear your solution just in case it ever happens to us.

Our SOP is the last person to shower (me) is responsible to squeege the inside glass, put the soap & soap holder on the shower floor, be sure the shampoo etc. is on the floor and in its basket, the door is latched, the bathmat is picked up and stowed in its location, and the bath towels are hung on hangers on the outside of the shower door (which would restrict the swinging if it wasn't latched  ).
Plus the DW and I are always looking over the others shoulder, just in case. So far it works well for us.

What about taking out both panels and just using a curtain? We are going to with our corner shower, they give me the willys!

This happened to a friend of mine also. Since he told me about it I have been using a bungee cord to put extra pressure on the door locking latch. So far so good.
