Side wall separation ?

2018 29. 5 BHDS HT
Got it new in May, pulled it the first 2 times for a total of 300 miles
On my last trip 2 weeks ago notice that the right side wall was separated at the bed rail area, when camper was connected to the truck.
That went back together when I lifted It Off ?
Has anyone ever seen this before?
The dealer has never seen this happen either. Thanks . signed not very happy

Look on the forum under fifth wheels for recent thread titled "trim sagging".

This looks like the same issue.

It appears to be a fairly common issue.

My 2018 Eagle 321RSTS is showing the same condition.

Our 5th is one of several that had a similar separation but it did not correct itself when un-hitched. That looks more like the result of something flexing that shouldn’t.
I’d suggest getting the dealer to investigate and contact Jayco with some pictures. This will at least get the issue documented. I’d also suggest watching the sidewalls in that general area for cracking. Some of the early 377’s had some kind of frame issues that resulted in cracks on the sidewalls at the front slide corners. Hope some of those owners will check in with more data on that.

Really poor design and execution by Jayco in this area. I have a 2017 and one side was hanging down a bit and I fixed it yesterday. My screws still had bite left in the wood so I glued it back up and drove the screws home and re caulked. If it continues to droop I will get longer screws and drive them into the frame.

Whats interesting is one side was fine with no droop but I re-glued those screws also. Those screws were nice and silver coloring and looked new. The other side that was drooping down the threads of the screws were already all rusted. Indicating water was getting in there and we all know that isnt good anywhere!

So this is something you need to address sooner rather than later.

Mine sagged a little too (only about 1/8"). I put in longer screws with sealant. Has stayed put since then.

Making sure you found my previous past last year with the same issue. I finally had to get metal screws 3 inches long and drill into the aluminum frame to keep mine from coming back. And so far, (knock on wood) it was only one side.

I put 3 inch screws in mine. On one side there was about 5 screws that weren’t even put in and screws that were not in straight. The 3 inch screws I put in tightened everything up nice.

Side Wall Separation

We were checking into the KOA in Sioux Falls, ND at the same time another Eagle 5th Wheel owner was checking in. We both have 2018 Eagle HTs and have been on cross county trip. He showed me where his Eagle was having the same separation at the bedroom front cap area where it curves. A technician checked it out for him and evaluated the situation and said he can get back to Ohio to have it repaired at his dealer. He had a fairly large gap. We checked my Eagle HT and observed the separation starting to happen on my unit as well. I called the Service Manager at my dealer in Myrtle Beach SC and he told me that he will fix as soon as I get back home in a couple of weeks. I have had wonderful service from my dealer and am confident that the repair will be made asap. It is unfortunate that this seems to be a reoccurring problem based on the many comments in our forum. I am going to discuss with my dealer owner and request that he provides documentation to Jayco on this issue. We need to collectively ensure Jayco hears about this issue and responds with improvements in their construction so future Eagle owners will not experience this issue.

We just had this same problem that was repaired by dealer. What we thought was something that needed more sealant, turned out to be a bigger and more involved fix. I'm glad the repair was made and time wil tell if more if this happens again. I'm great full for a great dealership. Is this a frame issue or just poor workmanship?

If it all goes back where it's supposed to be when the weight comes off the pin box then I would think it's frame flex in the overhang. There might be other more hidden places where it'll show as well.

Same flexing problem

We have a 2019 28.5 doing the same thing, my dealer is working on the problem, they followed jaycos instructions three times but still flexing, they are going to add several beams to stop the flexing, they said they did that on a large eagle and it solved the problem. (they tried the "special bolts" jayco ordered them to install, didn't help"

We have a 28.5 with the same problem. The dealer tried to fix it, took all the aluminum off the bottom to get a look at the frame, put it back together, but it still sags. He said the plywood is swollen. At least it's caulked now, and I am going to have Jayco factory look at it when it's in for a new roof in Feb.

Further down the road....

Use a good non-hardening caulk to keep out water intrusion.
