Top 3/4 of the sweep seal will give you access. Just pull back on the sweep to expose the motor. To take it out you will need to access the outside sweep where the locking screw is located.

You can override the motor to push it out by following the override sequence listed on the control panel.

Usually the wires break at the motor due to a snag or road wiggle.

Check for a faulty controller as well. Swap output wires.

I had same issue with one slide. Check the continuity of cable(s) that supplies the motor.
I had a 10' connected to a 5' and one of the connectors was bad, it was under the sofa in the front living room. I found that when I bent the wire near the connector it would work. I don't know why they used two cables so I replaced it with one 15' cable.

On 2 occasions my smaller bedroom slide, also a Schwintek, performed just as you described. Both times it stranded me on a Sunday as I was trying to get back home. They had an electrical cable that supplied the power to the motors that had a plug connector. The connector kept coming unplugged as the slide was engaged, leaving one side of the slide without power to its motor. It took 2 trips to the dealer while under warranty to replace the power line with a longer one, and a connector that was more secure. It has worked now without problems for a couple of years, but you can guarantee I am nervous every time I operate the slide. Not sure that is your problem, but the one side motor that does not have power sounds very similar.
