That is interesting. We ordered our 33.5 RETS and asked if they would build it with the slide out awnings. Dealer called the factory, and they said sure! Got a great price on them too. We ordered the 2014, but we got a 2015. Have had it a couple of months now and love it.

We have the black big awning (19 feet) over our 2014 Pinnacle and it radiates heat underneath it like crazy. I would go with a white or light color if possible. Just a thought. Plus, it is hard to keep clean.

Jerbs280, My Jayco dealer installed a 3 slide out awnings before I picked it up. Installed the black to match and it looks real good. They never mentioned voiding warranty. Also installed black vent covers on top.

When we got our trailer it was the first thing to go on the trailer.
No one said anything about voiding the warranty. we also put the max air covers on too

That's funny because we tried to have the factory install them but they said no to our Eagle HT. So we had the dealer install them. They said they shouldn't have any impact on the warranty. If we bring it in to have work done though, that will be the true test. Dealers will say anything.
In any case, they are great. I've had them on every trailer and they are nice and easy. I had white before and they always got dirty or showed streaks. Our black ones so far haven't been any more of an eyesore. As far as heat, I imagine they get hotter in the sun, but we haven't had any noticeable heat increase in our trailer yet. I'd get the same ones again tomorrow if I had to.

Us too. Before it left the dealer it had slide awnings and Max Air vents. Those are nice on rainy days.

The only reason I see the dealer not installing the slide toppers is because they are running an assembly line. If you got the request in before they got that far, they would probably do it. If you got the request in after the unit was ready, probably no way. Most all dealers install them. IF your dealer doesn't, I would be looking for another dealer. We also have the 2014 33.5RETS and the awnings were not a part of the factory build out. However, we had received a good price from the dealer for installing them along with some other add on's like vent covers, etc. and they did all that as soon as the unit came in without any problem. Never any mention of voiding any warranty. I have all ready had three warranty issues taken care of by the dealer after our first couple of trips out without any problems what so ever. By the way, TEAMRVINC, in Albany, Georgia if anyone if looking for a good down to earth dealer that appreciates all business he gets!

Thanks for the advice from you guy's
Received a call back from the factory tech service and his statement was. Slide out awnings weren't a option on my model and if they were installed by me, dealer, or anyone else the warranty would be void on any slide out unit, side walls, or anything related to the awnings that caused a leak, cracks in the material, etc. So I guess it boils down to who you talk to, or in some cases who you don't talk to.
Again thanks to all.

That is really interesting to me now, since the factory installed mine and we have the same model. Maybe they should talk to each other up at Jayco. Did they void their own warrantee? I doubt my lawyer would allow that. I hope I never have to find out. Good luck with your unit.

If this does void some or all of the warranty, my guess is if you got them installed from a dealer that doesn't give your hard time about it, then it still won't matter. If you bring your trailer in for service under warranty, the dealer doesn't do an inspection for things that would cause it to go out of warranty. They look at the problem, and how to fix it. They like doing warranty work because its guaranteed business for them. If your warranty claim had something to do with the slide trim, perhaps you'd have a problem. I installed an after market hitch on my last trailer the moment it left the dealer. Supposidly it voided the warranty. I brought it in many times for warranty work and was never once hassled. I doubt they ever even noticed. It's in their best interest to side with customer and get the manufacturer to pay if at all possible. Nevertheless, I just picked up my trailer with dealer installed awnings and they were well aware of the fact that they installed them. We had a lengthy conversation with regards to the Jayco warranty. I have no doubt they will perform warranty work as needed, hopefully none will be required.

I think the warranty would only be voided if said mod or add on caused the damage. Example if you installed a slide out awning and didn't anchor it properly on the exterior wall and that caused damage to that area then that would void your claim. If you where also having lets say your stove checked out at the same time, i don't see how they could deny that claim. Robert
