Thats a good idea, But after good thought, i've determined i'm not a good candidate for slide toppers. Most of my camping is in the Sierra Nevada's and along the Calif Cost where beautiful days can turn into miserable winds. Seldom do we encounter rain,. I can't find any good reason why i need slide toppers. Since we do a good deal of dry camping, i'd rather take that money and buy couple more Lithium Batteries and or some more Solar Panels.

I have the Carefree, (20yo rig, mine will pull down into window awnings also) and it has the rachet locks, just never figured when locks would be used; I accidently had locked for travel and tried to extend once, glad I did not damage something NOW I see maybe windy conditions?

Iam in northern California and installed the solera slide topper by my self 2 years ago and wind has not been an issue and neither has leaves or pine needles or oak tree leaves on the top of my slide because the toppers keep them clean. I highly recommend them
