Thank you Lady for adding the link... I too never had an issue with the read bunk slides; just the living room one. When I removed all three of the OEM junk ones, they appeared to weigh less than the replacements. Since making this swap months ago, not once have the motors strained. The sound they make while engaged seems "healthier" too. Note: I have a quad-slide; however, the front bedroom is a different type of gear/motor.

Slide motor's fixed (actually REPLACED) by Camping World. Thank God I'm still under warranty - $1,250 fix!! The slide motor itself was $825!! Now, unfortunately, we're under a "blanket of snow" in Colorado, so I probably will not get inside "Big Eddie" for another four months Guess it's time to break out the skis and enjoy the mountains!! Hope everyone had a FANTASTIC Thanksgiving with your family and friends - safe travels to all on the road!!

$825 for a cotton pickin' motor? Was it gold plated and jewel encrusted? Dang!

Slide Out Motor on Large Slide
Our 2011 Jayco Pinnacle is now in the shop to get the large slide motor replaced. We have used it 6 times since picking it up in July this year. I expected much better quality from Jayco. Disappointed to say the least. I agree with an earlier poster that they need to do a recall on the slide motors.

Was wondering if anyone has info on what is going wrong with these motors? Is it a gear problem, bearing, winding, brushes, or is it simply dying cause it's underpowered. Might be good to know so one can take appropriate action while still within the warranty period.

It is my understanding that the problem comes from China. The bean counters have struck again.

Mine still works and always has. It is just terribly slow coming in and trips the breaker from 1 to 5 times before it will come all the way in. It has always struggled since new. I think it is under powered and that is what my dealer told me. He he said the replacement is a much heavier duty motor. I will have mine installed sometime this winter when the dealer comes to my site to do it. They have the motor now and are just waiting for the right day to do it.

It is a simple fix. The biggest issue was getting to the shear bolts to make room for the new motor. Not touch room in the access panels that Jayco installs. Good luck with the replacements.

Slide problems too
We purchased a 2010 Eagle 321RLTS last fall. When we went to pick unit up it had some repairs that needed done. We left unit there and they delivered to us just before Christmas. Unit sat in driveway until spring. When we went to use it in spring we got the small living room slide out about 6 inches before it failed. Service guy came from dealership and removed slide motor and pulled gear case apart, one of the gears had stripped off. And guess where it was made, CHINA. New one was installed that was made in US. We were told it was a heavier slide motor, but who knows. It has worked fine so far, I wanted them to replace slide motor on big slide as well but they told me it should be fine as it was a bigger slide motor. I never removed cover to check if it was also made in China but it's likely a safe bet. We are spending winter in Arizona and every time we use slide I am expecting it to fail. I owned a 2008 Jayco with 20 foot slide and never had a problem with it but it had a different system all together. Not sure why a company would change something that works but I assume its money. The sad thing is we buy american made products and the American company is cutting costs using cheap Chinese crap.

3 out of the 4 slides in my rig had identical motors (the exception being my master bedroom slide). There are access panels beneath the rig that Jayco cuts-in; I would suggest taking the time to look at the other motors. I think you will find the same junk ones that failed previously. I would demand having these others replaced as well - before you are stuck somewhere remote...

Mine has an "M-tec" slide motor with a rack and pinion gear. Anybody have any idea where they are made? No problems with it yet but it is only a small sofa slide.

good luck getting them to replace the motor before it fails.. i spent alot of time on the phone without any luck they refused to fix something that is not broken, i have since then had the main slide motor fail, they still would only replace the one that failed,

Stan,
That's too bad; did you do the repair or was it done at a dealer? Jayco saved $$$ with my repair - because I did it (see one of my numerous posts on the reason). I replaced all three motors even though only one failed. I also personally delivered the three OEM junk ones back to the factory this past October...
