A lot of the newer ones have been coming out with a BAL Exact Slide cable operated system. I'm not sure what year Jayco changed over from schwintek. Maybe had problems with the schwintek, or supply problems, I don't know.

I have the exact same unit, 2020 model 285RSTS and have the same type of slide issues. We have had problems since they demo'd the trailer before we bought it. 2 more times in for repair and when I picked it up the last time I tried it and still had issues. What it does is on the way out the front slide stalls, so I let go of the switch and then press it again and it will go out. Coming back in the rear of the slide does the same thing but twice. Just need to release the switch and press it again and then it works. They gave me a can of slide seal lube that I applied a couple of times but it didn't seem to make any difference.
But we're getting ready for a long trip and I was checking tires, lubing axle bushings etc and I had the slides in and out 3 times parked in my shed and it worked flawlessly every time. Not sure if it has something to do with the fact it is not perfectly level or if it magically fixed itself. Guess I'll find out in a couple of days.

Hi
I have a 2017 Jayco RSTE 28.5
I have been having the same problem with the kitchen slide. I have read numerous owners
With the same problem on this form. There is lots of information regarding these problems
But is a shame that Jayco will not stand behind their product. You should make sure that you get it rectified before your warranty runs out.

Must have changed for 2021 because my exact modal has the cable system as well on the kitchen slide

That's what I was thinking because we camped next to a 2021 and it had the same kitchen slide as ours, The BAL cable slide. My 28.5 we ordered in 2021, expecting a 2021. When the trailer arrived at the dealer, in July, it came titled as a 2022. No change in price, but some differences in the trailer.
