Slides in or out?
I keep my camper on shore power at all times and was wondering what others did as far as the slides when your unit is not in use? Do you keep them out or tucked in? I have read on FB that others keep slides out... I don’t have slide toppers, so there’s less chance of weathering. To me it seems unnecessary to have the weight of slide counter levered out. Is the “seal” of the slide tighter when closed than when the slide is out? If so, wouldn’t the AC work less to keep cool/warm depending on season (less space to keep at temp)? I’m not saying I’m right, but just haven’t seen the reason as to why I should leave out. What am I missing?

Depends on your use.
I keep them open all season at our seasonal site since we use it almost every weekend.
Keeping them open lessens the strain on the slide mechanisms from being used all the time.
It's a balancing act.

Ours stay out but we do have it under a roof. When we leased a lonterm site at the lake we always pulled them when not there & we have slide toppers

Owners manuals may indicate what is recommended for your model.

We leave ours open and plugged in at home. That way it is easier to load up. We have slide toppers.

Mine is at my brother's. We keep it on shore power and the slide out. Great place to crash after a cookout and too many adult beverages.

Mine is also plugged in 24x7 at home, but the slides are only out when we are loading it up or just hanging out, otherwise I close them up. Saves me from having to inspect for debris or branches all the time (I don't have slide toppers)

My slides stay out from May-October at my seasonal site. Power stays connected and ON from May-October as well. When we go home during the week, we shut off the water, water heater, furnace/AC and propane. Awning gets rolled up also.

We also full time so slides are out (no toppers). If your unit is leveled and stabilizers are down when stored they would not make much difference if slides are in or out.
FWIW, many units sit on a dealer lot with the slides out until they are sold.
The only downside might be if there was a severe storm, but, in that case things like sky lights and fan vents will be the weak point.
