Slim Rack wear strips

Hello All,
Has anyone with the slim rack system on their large kitchen slide put wear pads on the bottom of the slide ? for the rollers to run on. The lippert installation instructions say they are recommended.

My rollers are starting to put wear marks on the bottom of the slide. Just another Jayco shortcut in their manufacturing process.

I have the schwintec and Jayco service center installed the wear pads on mine. The rollers dug deep into the floor. The black Teflon pads are wider than the rollers with screws down both sides. They are the width of floor. From inside with slide fully open u can look laying down and see they extend just past the roller. I have seen these on different rigs over the years. I wonder if LCI makes these or if Jayco stocks them. They just jacked the slide up a tad and pushed them in place and put screws down each side as far in as they could get from bottom with slide full out.

A company called Talon Mfg. makes a product called Guardian Plates. The make them for a number of applications including the bottom of slide outs.

That looks very similar to the plates that Talon offers though I do not know their pricing.

Do you have any pics of the plates Jayco added under the Schwintec slide? Have you had any trouble with the slide since they added them?

I will get u some pics today. And yes I has a major problem. The forward shaft dropped to the ground and my slide opened at 70 mph. Rod jammed under my wheel. Two days of cutting to get it removed and cutting wood to hold it closed. I posted a thread about it.

Here is a pic of one. I have six rollers and six wear strips. You can place 2x4 under the slide and raise it enough to get the strip under the roller. The strips are the width of the slide floor and two inches wider than the roller bracket. They have eight small screws holding them to floor bottom. The section of the strip from the lower seal past the roller has no screws. Since they go past the roller with slide fully open no screws are needed. I also spray dry lube on the strips.

Thanks for the Pics. After discussion with LCI I am in the process of adding them to my BR slide which is Schwintec. It has settled and the weight of the slide is riding on the gibs and v rollers. My V rollers are not turntable by hand as it sits now. I am looking at raising it 1/8”. I used a jack to test distance and that’s the height it took for the v rollers to come free. I am also seeing signs of roller damage to the bottom of the slide.

My kitchen schwintec was replaced beginning of this year. All the V rollers were free and now they are not and I have the pads. I was gonna add them to my bedroom but there could be a problem. The bedroom has to have a second or even a third row of rollers. You can see the one set from the slide seal. Did you find the rest of the rollers?

My NP only has two rollers. I am adding a third as per the installation manual from LCI says a max. distance of 36” between each roller. When speaking to LCI regarding my issue they didn’t mention that it needed to have more the one row of rollers. What would be the issues if it didn’t have more than one row of rollers?

Have you installed wear strips, and if so, was it very difficult? My kitchen slide under the residential fridge is starting to drag on one of the rollers causing the slide to amp out every 6 or so inches.

How thick is the flooring under the kitchen slide on a 2019 Pinnacle?

I believe the slide floor is 3/4" thick plywood. If you're going to install Teflon strips 1/2" or 5/8" countersink screws should secure it.

If you get the slide jacked up a little you might check to ensure the roller spins freely. You could have a bad roller of one that needs lubricated.

You might get an 1/8 but trying for a 1/4 might be too much.
To do it right you’ll need to do the procedure of replacing the H columns but not actually removing them, just getting them loose enough that when you lift the slide up, the H column moves up with it. Then put the screws back in.
If you were going that far (unscrewing the H columns), then you might as well take them out and get the rebuild kit and freshen up the parts, and make sure nothing is broken.

All you need is 1/16 or 1/8 thick. Two inches wider than roller bracket and just install small screws mine are not countersunk down the outer edges. See the pics I posted. The length is the slide width. Use a 2x4 to Jack up slide and just slide in the wear strip into place.
