Question Soon to be 377RLBH owner, questions on solar pre-purchase?

Hello all,

The family and I will receive a new 2016 Jayco 377RLBH this Friday. I have been scouring the forums learning as much as possible (I have learned allot).

The one area I could use some help with is the solar ready feature.
Our unit will be parked permanently at our campground but I like the idea of having solar to offset electrical costs.

One of my first questions is what panels do these support? I have read some threads saying it will only support a portable panel and others saying it is prewired for roof panels. The way our camper sits roof panels would be ideal but I'm not sure if it is wired for those or not?

I know the camper comes with one battery but i'm assuming I would need at least two to make things worth it. Is this the case?

When it says it is pre wired for solar I'm wondering how good of a system it is? Basically can I tie into shorepower with it or do I have to use shore or battery power only? In the hot summer months we use the A/C allot so i was hoping to have the comfort of shore power but also use the solar panels in conjunction so we're not using so much shore power.

I've never messed with solar before so i apologize if these are noobie questions. Any help would be much appreciated though!

Roof is pre wired with 8awg wire, to the basement area behind where the vacuum cleaner is mounted. To install solar PROPERLY, you will want to get your controller much closer to your battery bank. I extended the factory controller wires to the recessed area of the basement, drivers side, directly behind the wall from the battery box, then ran much heavier wire through the wall, to the batteries.

The advantage of off-grid solar is capturing power for use when you need it, vs just having it available when the sun is shining brightly. For that, you will need more than just the single factory battery.
