Staying in Pinnacle winter in the rockies.

Hi My name is Patrick Plevel. This summer we decided to sell our house and hit the open road. We bought a jayco Pinnacle wonderful 5th wheel. As it turns out house sold late in nov. we have moved into pinnacle waiting for house to close. The weather is turning nest 10 days could be as cold as minus 10 (-10) we are living in it so full of water and everything. all slides are out. What do I do?? We are hoping to head to warmer climates Jan. 20 Im worried about everything. Any help from anyone who has done this before will help.

Which floor-plan. Jayco says good to "0" so you are pushing the envelope a little, but it is probably do able with a few extra precautions. Are you in a park that will allow skirting? Go to Lowes or Home Depot, get soome 2" 4x8 styrofoam sheets, cut them in 1/2 length wise and seal up the bottom of the FW as best you can. Also don't leave the sewer hose out. How are you getting water?

Mine is 2014 38flfs not in a park in yard of sold house. I have emptied all the water and grey water just going to do a little dry camping for awhile. still wondering about how the slides and all the hydrolices will work mid Jan. at what may be minus 10. love the floor plan thanks for the reply.

Units sit open in dealer lots all winter so that shouldn't be a concern. We've camped in non-artic package units where the temp hit 13 for short periods with no problems, but I do have a heated water hose and the park had heat wrapped spigots.

I have done dry camping in my eagle 351rlts for the past few winters in upstate NY with no issues. If you are using water...well that is a different story. Skirting will help keep the unit warm and you may need to scrape the slides off if you have a lot of snow/ice build up but other that that...enjoy. Keep an eye on your propane levels, it will go pretty quick at -10.

You should be fine with a little cold weather set up. My wife and I spent two winters in Wyoming in a Wilderness travel trailer many years ago. We placed plywood and straw bales around the bottom, heat traced and insulated the water hose and sewer line and placed a heat lamp under the trailer near the dump valves. We did just fine. Your Pinnacle is a lot more trailer than that Wilderness was. Think of it as an adventure.
