Steep Price
My local Jayco dealer here is quoting $37k for the 2012 Eagle 26.5RLS fifth wheel. This price sounds a little steep to me. Thoughts?

Yup, that is steep. According to RV Direct site, even if you load up all the extra options the MSRP would be 43,792.... but you shouldnt pay anything even close to MSRP from ANY dealer.
If you discount that price by 35% that puts the price at 28,500. In my opinion that is the price you should start negotiating at and not pay a dime more than 31,000 (30% discount). Again, that depends on options--- does it have the free standing dinette, dual pane windows, recliner, Reese pin box, etc.? Find out exactly what options it has and start researching from there... in this economy and with the internet there is no reason that anyone should be over paying on their RV purchase, IMO.

That is too much, especially for a leftover. I agree with the 30% off min rule above. Get a quote for a new 2013 from RV Direct that you can print and take with you to the dealer. Takes 20 mins. Load it up with the comparable options and you can factor in delivery, but it will be a 2013.

We bought that exact FW, Eagle SuperLite HT 26.5 RLS, a year ago from a dealer about 150 miles from us for $26,200 when the "MSRP" was listed at a bit over $37,000. Now, we didn't get every option, but did get rear electric stabilizers, stand-alone table and chairs rather than the dinette booth, two batteries rather than one and the Polar package for what that's worth. At the same time, RV Direct has priced the same FW for me at approximately $24,200. I bought 150 miles away to have a somewhat local dealer and felt the cost was pretty similar when looking at what it would cost to have it delivered to me. The "MSRP at both RV Direct and my dealer was the same, with the same options as well as at a dealer about 250 miles away in another state who was selling the same FW, with a couple less options for $26,995. Unless you dealer comes down to less than $27,000, I think you are leaving quite a bit on the table.

I ran into that with a dealer fairly close to here, they would only come down 10% off MSRP and not budge from there. I ended up going with RV direct.

I paid a little over that for our 2012 351RLTS in May of 2012.

I may be wrong but I think the OP was looking at a 2012 SuperLite and your fiver is an Eagle. Two different trailers.

That is correct. The Eagle is more $$$ than a Superlite and we paid almost what they are asking for a smaller less expensive unit. Just stating in a differnt way they should be able to find a better price.

You should end up with at least a 30% discount off the total list price (no matter the options). We just purchased a 2012 26.5RKS and got 31% off list but had to shop a number of dealers. Some dealers just will not budge so you have to shop around or else you will pay more than necessary.
