Storage battery maintenance

Last month i moved my 5th wheel to a covered storage area. I currently have solar installed on the unit but with no sun then no charge. I am looking for a way to install a small solar panel to the front of the rv. It gets 2 to 3 hours of sun per day. I do turn the battery switch off when in storage but would feel more comfortable with keeping the batteries fully charged. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Why don't you just remove the battery and utilize a trickle charger.

I park my John Deere in a shed with no power and wanted to keep the battery charged. I bought one of these solar maintainers from Amazon and it has worked great for several years. https://www.amazon.com/Battery-Tende...%2Btender&th=1

I am really trying to avoid removing and transporting 4 6v batteries. As far as the solar charger goes i am trying to come up with something that is large enough to give me sufficient charge in the 2 to 3 hours of sun and not grow legs while left unattended at the storage yard. Looks like i may be trying to fabricate something small enough to be portable yet large enough to provide the needed power.

Won't they stay charged if disconnected via the battery disconnect switch? Mine seems to, but perhaps it depends on length of time.

If you decide to leave your batteries over the winter (without SOLAR or battery charger), make sure you leave them with a FULL charge and proper water level. Then disconnect ALL the battery cables from the batteries, even the ones that connect the batteries together. This way there is "ZERO" resistance on the batteries, and if for some reason one of the batteries happens to go south (very unlikely), it will not affect the other. They should do fine over the winter.

PS..... If they are old or have not been maintained properly, take them home.
