Stove exhaust fan vent

Good morning,

New 2015 Jayco Pinnacle owners, previously a Flagstaff Superlite.

I use to be able to reach the stove vent, open or close it, and keep it from banging in the wind. We are in Port Isabel Texas where winds are common in the low 20 mph and this winter out of the North which is the side my vent is on.

On our Pinnacle 36KPTS a ladder is required. So I bought a 12.5 ft ladder. I can now close it and keep it from banging all day, and I imagine all night. The fact that it is so high on the side of the RV, I'm wondering if someone has an easier method of securing the vent?

Wonderful RV, with the Flagstaff 1/2 the size with front and back stabilizers only, we had a very gusty couple of days here and 3 sets of stabilizers, we were pretty darn stable.

Thanks in advance,
