Support in interior center of 14' slide
We have a 98 Designer 29RKS. As an older model, it still has the divider "decoration" between the couch and the dining table. To those of you who have had Jaycos forever, is this a true support, or is it a decoration? We are working full-timers, and to take that support/decoration out means we could rearrange furniture a bit and give ourselves more room.
I'll take any and all advice.

Call, have the vin# handy.
My opinion, I don't see how it could be structural.

Do you have any pics of the divider? I want to make one in my 184 BH to separate the couch from the dinette. Would be nice to see how the factory did it before i go and reinvent the wheel.

I agree verify with Jayco.
As an old construction rule of thumb, if it has any load or weight on it, it will sound solid if you tap on it. If it vibrates a lot, it does not

If it is a support then maybe you could move it to the right or left, that would still give you the support. It doesn't have to be in the center because there's no real weight above it. That would give you say a smaller kitchen and larger living room area.

Since we'll be in Twin Falls, Idaho tomorrow, a Jayco manufacturing site, I'll make some phone calls. If it has to stay, then we could take Tunce's idea and just shift it toward the kitchen. Thanks!

My guess is there is some structural support provided. If removed could cause sag over time
Best of Luck

Well it's after 10:00 PM and I'm still thinking about this support and I don't like it either. I just put my super slide out and it's 12' long but only about 3' deep and that ceiling weighs next to nothing. I do not have a center support. If the frame is 2x2s on yours( mine is aluminum)and assembled with wood it might need a LITTLE support but not much and if the support is off center it should be just fine. If they say no I would get a second opinion on at least moving it over. I have enough homes under my belt to say it should be just fine.

I agree with Tunce since it is in the slide. I thought you were talking about it being in the main part of the unit.

No, it's only in the slide. That's been the issue...is it or isn't it? So I'll call Jayco today and see if I can get an answer. Whatever they say, I'll post.
