Surge protector

We only spent one night out - as planned. Everything went great until this morning when we had a thunderstorm come through. Bedroom a/c and TV went off, so we thought we tripped a breaker or something. Went outside to check surge protector after finding all breakers untripped. According to the manual, it needs replaced already? Glad I sprang for the $40 protection plan!! I almost didn't get anything but went with the portable since I didn't have time for a hard wired unit to be installed before we left.

My question is, did I buy a lemon surge protector or did it legitimately save us some heartache?

Screen read outs attached.

I have the hard wired from the same company. They will save you a lot of headaches.

It likely saved you but that is the weak spot. It's like an air bag. One use only.

That is not always true.
It shuts electric off when there is low or high voltage.
When power is alright, it comes bAck on

We had a lightning strike nearby that caused a surge. TRC opened power and assumed room temperature. Not repairable.

It saved you more money than you realize. Without it, you could have fried a lot more than a surge protector. They are meant to do exactly what it did...it's job. And yes, they are one shot only protectors. That's how they're manufactured and how they save your camper. Consider it insurance for your camper. Myself, I'd be a little apprehensive buying a EMS/Surge protector that's re-usable.

If I had bought the EMS first, I could have had it repaired for a fraction of the cost of a new TRC.
