We've pulled a 2015 Jayco 339 FLQS 5th wheel all over the US in the 5 years we've had it. I'd say the trailer has averaged about 10,000 miles each year. At one point I had to change some shackles out that had broken. But with oil can lubrication they have given good service. They still appear intact but now a little voice in my mind tells me it might be time I replaced the originals with something a little more robust with wet bolts and new springs. My question is how long or far can a typical, plain, factory stock, tandem axel suspension with rockers, shackles and leaf springs on a 12,000 lb trailer be expected to last. Thanks.

I have a 2015 Eagle 323LKTS, and travel about the same 10,000 annually. I have replaced my shackles already, (last year), brakes twice, and am taking it into the shop today to replace the full under belly that flew off in transit last week. I am going to have the shop do a full inspection on the entire suspension this week as well. I would assume your shackles are in need of replacing if they are still original.

We have a 2017 Eagle 355MBQS, weighs in at 12k, loaded about 14k. Travel about 8k miles per year. I put the wet bolts on the first year. Replaced both rear leaf springs after 1 broke last year, other was deformed. Replaced the front 2 leaf springs this year, just because.

Thanks LegalEagle. I too have replaced the factory brakes about two years back, shackles too, as I see the need. To help secure the underbelly, which was beginning to break loose from it's attachments on the I beams, I have installed tie-down straps, the kind with hooks and can be sufficiently tightened with a ratchet handle. I installed them across strategic points under the underbelly, from I beam to I beam. After 10,000 miles I can say the extra support appears to help. No further sagging.
