Finally getting around to posting pictures of the repair. The shop added the cross members at each hanger, so I'm confident I will never have hangers bending anywhere ever again. One of the hangers was bending so much that it had damaged the frame. The shop added some reinforcement to the frame and welded it up. I've traveled 250 miles with the fifth wheel since, and it sure seems much smoother. I also went ahead and replaced the tires since the outside edge was so bare I was afraid they would fail under load. Oh well, I didn't need that $$ anyway, right?
