Thermostat

We got an 32 RLTS Jayco Eagle. Has anyone had problems with the thermostat in the maim part of the camper. Has anyone change to a different type. I don't find it cycling correct.

I have a 2012 32RLTS and find that mine functions correctly. It is a Coleman digital thermostat and runs both the furnace and the air conditioner.

My 2011 came with analog thermostats. I purchased and replaced the one in the main living area with Coleman digital, like the ones in the 2012 and later models.

Easy mod, more accurate and responsive to changes in temp.

My Designer originally came with analog thermostats and that was the first mod I made. This was done with both almost most 3 years ago and both still operate perfectly. I used Coleman brand for the replacements.

Does anyone know if it is alright to use a digital thermostat that is not specifically for a RV? Like one for a house?

There are procedures for using Hunters and others all over the rv mod forums. One of the things I don't care about them is they use a battery for power. Just another something to cause a problem IMO.

We have a 31.5 rlts and I changed to the hunter thermostats for both acs. I made the mods for the fan speed switch and am going to remove it for the main air. It really does not make that much difference. Both have worked great and you know the exact temp and can adjust it by a degree not by guessing

This is one link to the mod using a Honeywell and another for a Hunter. Last time I looked, the Hunters were hard to find.

We have a 2012 Eagle. The placement of the thermostat is on the wall just above the heat vent and a/c vent...the thermostat causes the furnace ( worse than a/c) to short cycle because heat is immediately on the thermostat it reaches temp, cuts off and in a minute the temp drops enough it will cycle back on...even had dealer agree placement of thermostat was not a good one...we changed the vent for heat to one we can close. This has helped.

In short no you cannot. House systems are AC and the RV systems are 12Vdc.

The Hunter and Honeywell mods being talked about are residential thermostats. They use a internal battery for power and do not use the rv battery supply.
