Sorry but I have to dispute your answers backed up with facts not fiction.

My Marathon Tires were made in the USA It was stamped in the Sidewall and the DOT Code for country of origin was USA

2. there is a difference of load range rating between ST and LT Tires. Here is what Goodyear has to say.

"Trailer tires are considered a special category in the current global design standards of Tire and Rim. The major difference is that trailer tires are required to carry 10% more load than an equivalent P-metric size tire. LT type tires are actually on a lower formula and would require a significant size or load change to meet the trailer load requirements."

I can vouch for this. The four Marathons on my TT were made in China in 08 but the spare was made in USA in 09. The Marathons on my boat trailer were made in New Zealand in 05! I understand that for a brief period they were made in USA again but are now once again being made in China.

MHbell, could you please explain what the above quote means? There are LT tires that will fit on my rims that have an appropriate load rating for my axles and trailer. If they are the correct diameter, have the correct load rating and fit on my rims why can't they be used? I don't know what a "lower formula" means. Can you please enlighten me?

If you compare the load rating of a LT and a ST of the same size, the ST will have a slightly higher load rating. That does not mean you can't use LT. Just be mindful of the load rating.

That is my understanding and experience with both.

That is my conclusion also. I just can't seem to understand what that Goodyear quote is saying. I thought I understood English pretty well, but......

I am going to bump this thread again. I am hopefully off to Montana next week and was interested in knowing if there is any new, news on replacing tires on my 07 Jayco 5th wheel? I would like to know if anyone has replaced theirs with any other brand than the Marathons and if so what kind and how much? I do not have access to my unit right now but I think they are 16's. Tires here in Canada are bloody expensive!!!

I replaced the goodyear wranglers with Firstone Transforce HT size LT235/85 16 load range E. We just got back from an 8,000 mile trip with speeds of 70 to 75 mph and the tires preformed great and sill look like they did when I put them on. I got them from Tire Rack and saved a bundle.

Good choice from my perspective- The Transforce HT has been my tire of choice for at least 10 years- Am on my 3rd set now- After 4 years on the fiver, I put the take-offs on the TV duals for 4 more years- In 13 plus years of fulltiming, we have never had a Transforce failure- JHMO-DD
