Tips for troubleshooting error code

So I had some time today to mess with my slide that isn’t wanting to work correctly. The controller is blinking 8 times which says there’s a short between the controller and the slide motor. Any advice on how to troubleshoot this issue. Thinking of trying to ohm out the wires to see if I can find which wire has the short. The slide will work after I do a manual reset of the controller for a short time then back to the same issue. Thanks for any help.

Regardless. it is probably a bad motor, just change the one that is giving you trouble

Any idea on how to tell which one is bad. Both seem to be working
