My husband and I just purchased a 2019 Jayco Fifth Wheel and are having a problem building up pressure in the FW tank; it runs out the overflow Now, it works fine when we are hooked up to city. It’s just when we are dry camping is when we have the problem We would appreciate any suggestions you might have. We have always owned Class A Motorhomes. This is the first Fifth wheel we have ever owned

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the new fifth wheel. (Please let us know which trailer you have.)

When filling the the fresh water tank, there are vents that let air out when filling. Water will flow out those vents when the tank is full so the tank is not pressurized.

When the fresh water tank has water, the trailer's water pump supplies water pressure but the tank is not pressurized.

First, congrats on the new memory maker and welcome to JOF.
Next, your fresh water tank doesn’t build pressure, it has a pump to pull water from the tank and send it to the faucets. When dry camping, have you moved the levers in the utility bay to dry camping and switched on the pump at the switch panel inside the camper? Can you hear the pump operating?

You have a switch to turn on the water pump. Most likely it's there with your slide-out and awning and lights switches. The pump is how the water gets out of the FW tank (it has no internal pressure of its own like the pressure tank you have in your basement if you have well water).

Our camper is a Jayco Eagle HT (2019) Fifth Wheel. The water pump just keeps running. It will not build up any pressure for the water to run in the camper. The water that's running out of the tank...there's a white drain tube and a black tube and the water is coming from some sort of flat looking black tube in between the two (if that makes any sense) I don't know if that's an overflow tube or not, but it's in between the 2 hoses. One more question, does it make any difference if the knob outside is set on "City" or "Tank Fill" for dry camping? I hope I haven't totally confused you, but my husband is 73 years old; has one leg broken and can't get under the camper to work on it. He used to be able to. I think it should be set to "Tank Fill" for dry camping.

Once you fill the tank, with the valve in the "tank fill" position, turn the valve back to the "city" position and turn on your water pump.

Deblew1: You are getting some bad information on this.

When your tank is full and you want to use it inside, set your utility valves to the Normal configuration. Then when the pump switch is turned on you should hear the pump running until the lines are pressurized. Open a faucet and you should get water.

These valves are in the utility closet outside. No need to crawl under.

Check the area where the water is running out. If you get down and look up under the RV, I think you will see a plastic valve under there that has a toggle arm that you can move. Move that arm 90 degrees from it's present position and I think the water will stop. On my fifth wheel, this valve is located on the right hand side (entrance door side) and almost at the back of the camper. It is on the bottom of the camper and I have to get down on a knee to look up under there to locate it. Hope this helps.

Its a known problem. When I fill my unit it will then gravity suction feed out about a 1/3rd of your tank if you let it. (****ty design) Through another thread a year or so back a guy put a landscape shut off valve on the small round white line. This way when it starts venting you can turn the handle 90 degrees and it stops and your not wasting water. The other big flat black rubber tube coming down I roll up and stick a spring clamp on the end. This stops the flow of water on that one. Just remember to undo those once you are parked again and using water so you dont suck the tank inwards if that makes sense.

City fill is the setting for putting water in the tank when you are attached to city water.

Normal is for when you are boondocking w/o city water and using the water in your fresh tank and the on board pump.

Country fill is when you are pulling water into the water tank from a external supply using the on board pump.

Thats how it is on mine and I believe they are the same.

The Eagle Ht isnt going to have this fancy set up. it has one valve on the outside with two positions, one is tank fill and one is city water. I know it will work on tank fill, never tried on city setting to pump water out of the tank, it might.

When I picked mine up all i could get was air out the faucets, the dealer opened the small panel in the basement on the drivers side, they turned something, don't know exactly what it was. There is a valve or two in there. The valve that has a clear hose connected to it might be in the wrong position.

This is what docking station is on the Eagle HT.

The hose is connected to black tank flush by the way. The other hose connection is for fresh water.

I've said this and I believe I'm correct but, just for grins, tomorrow I am going to go through the motions to confirm the correct procedure.

I am obviously not familiar with your utility closet. They have re-named it DRY Camping and made some changes, like color coding.

Sorry if I caused you more confusion. I'll let someone with one like it give you tips.

PS: My wife never could get used to it being called Normal!

I have no lever that says “dry camping” and I can hear the pump running, yes
