Tonneau covers?

What are y'all using for tonneau covers on your tow vehicles, allowing proper pin box swing and rearward visibility when the cover is folded open?

I have a long bed and use the Gator tri-fold. No interference with the hitch or pin box.

We're in a motorhome now, but when we were towing I used a Extang Trifecta in my 'std' box chevy. Plenty of clearance on a non-sliding pin/hitch and I could still see well enough to hookup without a struggle.

If you have, or plan to have, an in-bed auxiliary fuel tank, keep that in mind while you are shopping for a tonneau cover.

Take a look at Peragon covers - nice folding aluminum cover that won't block the rear window when fully stowed and can be completely removed very quickly if needed. I just ordered one for my new F-250 long bed after having the BAKFlip on the RAM fall apart in a relatively short amount of time in the southwest heat. Reasonably priced compared to other metal covers.

Peragon Truck Tonneau Covers

5th Wheel details from the web site:

Fifth Wheel Hitches
The Peragon bed cover will work with fifth wheel hitches if the highest point of the hitch is at least one inch below the top of the truck bed.

You will also need to examine the full range of movement of your trailer (including turns onto an inclined driveway and sharp turns while backing the trailer on inclines) to ensure you have the clearance needed. Our rails protrude about 3″ on both sides of the truck and they rise 1″ above the bed rail. If necessary, the tongue on your trailer may be adjustable to increase the space between the trailer and the truck bed rails.

Tyger or a Premium tri-fold from Amazon or Ebay, a little over $200.00. 10-year warranty. Glad I didn't pay $1000 for one.

I have an aux tank in my bed as well.

I purchased my Gator tri-fold before I decided to install an auxiliary tank so I had to do a "tonneau mod". I bought a sample swatch of the tonneau fabric and made a hatch over the auxiliary tank cap. Used industrial strength velcro to hold it down. Works great!

Great idea! BUT (always one of those, right?) I have a toolbox/fueltank combo. That puts my fuel cap a ways below the tonneau cover; the whole nozzel would have go through and some of the HOSE too.

Actually, the cover is easy to roll open and, because of the added fuel capacity, doesn't have to be done all that often.

Still, I think your mod is great and could really help some others.

I have an Access roll up soft cover. Not mega secure but I don't keep a bunch of stuff back there that anyone would walk away with and it's nice to stay covered when you're not towing or fueling the aux tank.

I too have the Bak Flip quad fold and it is out of the way with 3 sections folded up in my short bed truck. It is also secure and holds 30lbs on top!

Very interesting, haven't seen that design before.

How does it work if you've filled the bed? Looks like you have to always have some sort of void below it at some point to allow the accordion action to happen. If you can't push downward, you can't start the folding action?

I don't yet have the cover as I just ordered it but yes, there is a small amount of space required at the head of the bed to support folding and stowing the cover which is similar is some respects to other roll-up covers. There is a quick-release mechanism that allows you to easily remove the folded cover if needed. As with most things there is a compromise and pros/cons to each. For me I don't think this is going to be an issue, but for others it certainly could be.

I have had one now for 5 years. It works good. Yes you do need some space open in the back so it can fold down. Approx 1 foot. This works great with my FW hitch. Like all other covers, you will get a little water in when it rains.

I like the roll ups. Tri folds(which I've had are an issue when I haul things like appliances and want to haul behind cab.The roll up makes the room. "TRUXEDO". Im on my second ,had one in my earlier truck and they are easy install,no drilling ,and very dry

BAKFlip MX4 on a Ď19 F-350 LBCC. Works great. Inches of clearance between cover and B&W Companion hitch.

I use a Leer Trilogy tri fold cover and love it. It keep contents dry and secure from theft. I'm not sure on the clearance for your 5th wheel but it easy enough to remove and replace when you get where your going.
