Too Many levers at city water hookup
We are out on our very first camping trip in our new 34RLTS 5th wheel - yea! When hooking up the city water I am confused by all of the many little levers and what the actual settings should be. Through trial and error (over filled the water tank) I finally think I am on City Water. There is no diagraham or tutorial I can find about these levers in the owners manual or you tube.
Are there some resources available?

My owners manual has a description of the procedure but my wife has real problems understanding it.
Her main problem is she thinks [B]NORMAL[/B means we are on city water. If you can understand what each configuration means, just place the valves in that position.
I like the arrangement over my old rig because everything is in one spot.

Yep... to the Amish master plumber in charge of Jayco's plumbing dept... NORMAL means you're boondocking and using the fresh water tank / water pump.

There was no mention of the settings in my 2013 manual for my Pinnacle, but there was one in the 2012 manual. So I downloaded it and printed that part out.

Gee, is this forward progress ? Our 2004 has one inlet marked "City Water", and another right next to it marked "Fresh Water Fill". About as simple as you could ask for. No valves, no levers, no confusion. That is what I call the KISS principle (keep it simple, stupid). JMHO.

My valver are aim at #2 and #6 for city water.

It's all because of being able to put antifreeze into the water system without having direct access to the pump. Jayco has used the manifold system since 2001 on their motorhomes. Our 2001 DESINGER MH and now, our SENECA has the exact same set-up.
And Yes "Normal" is using the pump and on-board tank.

I just went out and took a picture of my setup. I don't know if yours is the same but here it is for what it is worth. As far as resources, Jayco has been very kind to answer my questions. I sent an email to them using their contact page at the Jayco website and they got right back to me with the requested diagram.

Ok, Grumpy, I understand. But I guess that means that you don't have good access to your pump. My pump's rubber diaphram went bad awhile back, and it took only about 15 min to change, because I had good access to the pump. And the pump has a simple pick-up tube for antifreeze that seems much easier to use than a complicated system of valves and levers. Give me simple every time. JMHO

Haha I was a communications guy in the green machine for a while, maybe that's why it makes sense. Actually it's straightforward, just put the corresponding valve in the up or side position as the symbol shows. Won't help is your rig has a different layout, of course. I'm surprised that you don't have a diagram close by the valves but if not, I'm sure Jayco will send you one.

As several have said, "Normal" in Jayco-speak is using the onboard tank and pump. Even at a full hookup site, this is the way we do it. We use shore water ONLY to refill the tank. You don't want to spring a leak while you're hooked up to an inexhaustible supply of water, plus using the onboard pump ensures you won't have damaging pressure spikes.

One thing that is bad, connecting the water hose to the black water sprayer, thinking you have connected to the City water inlet. Then walk away. It makes a mess. A big mess.

I had no idea what you all were talking about speaking of all the levers until I saw one of the posted pictures. Certainly have none of that on my two trailers haha... My two trailers has a city water connection and a fresh water tank fill port. (Early 2000 vintage)
I need to get out more often and look at the new stuff I guess. Might make me re-think some of the so called helpful information I sometimes pass along to questions found on here...
