Total Combined Length?

We have a Ram 3500 crew cab with 8' box and a NP 375BHFS. We are about to embark on our inaugural trip next week, but I don't have the unit with me to get a total length of tow vehicle plus trailer.

I know there's a 6' overhang where it hitches, but anyone with similar specs, can you help me get an idea of total length combined?

Total newbie question 🤦🏼*♂️

Some sites limit combined length to 50' and I'm guessing I'm WAY over that with our rig.

Thanks!

Your NP is a ft longer than my PINNACLE. I have a 2015 CHEV 8' bed extended cab and I'm 56' if that helps give you an estimate.

My guess is you will be about 58'1". Your trailer is 15" shorter than mine and your truck is about 15" longer. It isn't exact but I'll be it is close.

My Pinnacle 38FLSA is 42 ft. When attached to my long bed 4 door Dodge, overall length is 57 ft. Maximum length in Montana is 75 ft.

No need to worry about avoiding states with lower length limits- no one in law enforcement is going to bother you. Any standard semi with a 53' trailer is running at least 65', and that combo is legal in all 50 states.

Our first stop was going to be to Oklahoma state parks, but their website says max tow and rig length for most sites at 31-50'.

So if we're closer to 60' it probably rules out most of their sites unfortunately. :/

Sometimes it's not even the site length but the road width in which you need to turn in. Add in a few cars on the road parked sideways and a tree, that will keep you busy for about 30 mins.

If this is your first trip with a rig this long then my suggestion is try to pick an open few sites or pull through to get a feel for it. They do not react like a bumper pull and require more run to get the turn going while backing up. The reverse is true when turning into a site where the trailer will track up to 10 ft shorter than the TV depending on how tight you turn.

Private CG's will give you more info on whether you can fit with a few calls. Usually personnel are knowledgeable in their CG layout. State CG's tend to be less knowledgeable and read from the script.

Owning a big rig like ours requires more homework on our ends, which you seem to be doing correctly.

Good luck!

Ditto. Even with my shorter trailer there are plenty of CG's that I won't go into. Also have to keep in mind that some CGs do not control where other campers park their toads and such. I've been 'blocked' into a site until another camper could be convinced to move his toad out of the way.
