I am towing a shorter trailer with my Dodge 3/4. Power is great, it is the payload/springs that are lacking. I put Timbrens on mine to keep from hitting the bump stops all the time.

How do you like the Timbrens?

I towed my 328 with a F250 6.2. Did fine, I just wanted to upgrade to the F350 for the future.

We had airbags on our Tundra and now Timbrens on the Dodge.
Airbags did perform better overall. You could inflate to whatever level you needed and then deflate and have softer suspension at home. It was critical on the Tundra. Why? Cause the suspension was so soft (remember it was a 1/2T) and nice when unloaded. I had the onboard compressor and considered it worth the extra money.
I went with Timbrens this time mainly cause I did not want the extra work of routing airlines and finding a place to put the air pump. Also, the stock suspension on the Dodge when unloaded is pretty stiff anyway, so a little more isn't that bad. The downside is you have no control over ride height like you do with airbags. They are just a rubber version of overload springs.
But....I can tell the Timbrens are on there when unloaded. There is only about 1" of suspension travel before the Timbrens hit the axle and I can feel it when it happens. If you off road your truck it will be a factor in the larger bumpy areas.

Towing a 2016 321 with a 2015 F250 Crewcab Shortbed 4x4 with 6.7 Powerstroke.
I'm not a believer in airbags or Timbrens. I use the Roadmaster Active Suspension system.

Are you happy with this combination? Just not sure if another diesel is in my future. Just to expensive and for a daily driver I am not sure it would like my drive out 8 miles everyday.

No, a diesel does like short commutes. You'll be buying a new turbo sooner rather than later. But, if you tow a lot there is nothing better
That Activesuspension comparison chart is sure a stretch of the imagination. It is a novel approach to overload springs.

My 03 Cummins is good but these new one ones sure are a lot more finicky.
I pull about 8 to 10 times a year, most trips are an hour or so and 2 trips of 4 hours to the beach. Most driving is 8-10 miles to work and back.
Just really worried a gasser would really disappoint after my current oil burner

For those short trips a gasser will do just as well as the diesel.
30 or so hours a year with a diesel just would not seem worth it to me. You'll be surprised at how much cheaper the maintenance is on a gasser too.
FWIW, I almost traded in my diesel on a gasser this year. Instead I had to put in a new turbocharger
