If you don't have a tire monitor system yet, I encourage you to get one. I just put the Tire Minder TM-77 on my GMC Dually and 321 RSTS. It was an easy install, included the signal booster, and the instructions were very easy to understand. Looking forward to the first road trip with more peace of mind.

I have the TireMinder 55C on my 5er and am not as satisfied as I was. The unit is under 2 years old and one of the transmitters has failed due to a faulty soldier joint where the slips into place. Batteries have only been replaced twice and TireMinder wants 25 dollars for a new transmitter. When a company does not stand behind it's product when there is an obvious flaw it won't get a five star rating in my book. Too many other companies to choose from.

I just put one on my trailer, due to the great advice on the forum. Will be leaving on a 3 week trip next week. I have a repeater and it says to mount it to a 12 volt source that is constant when driving. I am wondering if I can connect to the battery straight or do I need to turn it off each time I shut off the TV.

I wired mine direct to the 5er's battery with the alligator clips included in the package. It's always on and uses very little battery power. If I need to, I can quickly unclip them to stop it from transmitting.

Good luck. I have had three different brands over the years. The tire stem units were identical (even the control units worked the same way). Two had solder joints break. FWIW, $25 is cheap. The first I had break cost me $45.

You can choose a model with sensors that mount inside the tire, like your car/truck. Just costs a bit more. (and warn the tire center when you need new tires so they don't break the sensors).
